Fbg 6.5
Encaustic painting
I rather like this one in greys...

I think I have a few more encaustic paintings left...

I have found some different paintings while tidying up... so I will start using those in a few days....

Night night from me...

Have a peaceful night...

10.6 first thing, only dropping to 10.3 after 90 mins without eating.

Then ate a small piece of cooked pork - 1 hour later 8.1

Need to repeat experiment but this is promising.

Busy day involving lots of admin. Must start packing for next week's holiday soon...

Your encaustic paintings are wonderful - looking forward to what other ‘finds’ you have discovered.

Good morning everyone on a spiffingly quiet start to international bin day here in the dark and dangerous north broken only by the garden bins being emptied by the number one of two bin lorry cavalcades.
5.4 this a.m. as we eagerly await the arrival of the recycling bin lorry. It’s like having our very own carnival on double bin days.
Mrs Miggins went to hospital yesterday for a follow up eye screening after something was noticed during her annual eye test. Now she can empathise when I have my diabetic mydriatic eyes wide open stingy stuff.
Art bit - Ink on watercolour paper.
Hope your day goes well. Try not to be miserable in advance, it just might be better than you thought it would be. Best finish this koffy and get on with the day.

5.5 this morning.

End of year accounts delivered to the Accountant. Not bad as our end of year is end of July, so it hasn't even taken a month to finish them. Actually it is my sister who has done all the work - so I cannot take the credit for it.

Have been working on the new exercises for classes in September. I think class members will enjoy them - but maybe not as they are harder versions of what we already do.

One of my classes once begged Mr K to stop me going to anymore courses so I didn't introduce any new exercises. :)

B G went low during the night - Libre let me know it was 3.4 so I got up and had a digestive biscuit. By 04.20 it was up to 8.1 but dropped quite quickly to 7.9. After breakfast insulin and food, it came down to 4.6.

Leg bandaging day today so I'm feeling a bit the worse for wear. Shan't do much today, I don't suppose.

Neil found some more boxes of paperwork for me to sort through yesterday. Most stuff from my Masters. All about research. All in the bin now. If I ever find my certificates, I shall keep them, but although some of it was interesting stuff, there's no point hanging on to it. I never felt particularly pleased to have gained my Masters (never felt that I did enough work to deserve it), but Tom was delighted with it because he also was a Master (Mariner).

I'm bouncing around like Tigger today for two reasons

FBG 9.4 despite snack of some cheese before bed and consequently only 9 hours fasting. Was hoping not to have to give up bedtime snack as it helps me sleep - looks like I may not have to. \○/ Have eaten 5 cocktail sausages and will test to see if BG drops again.

Lidl roll over their food promotions on Thursday, so I checked at around 1am and it looked pretty dull for next week, though there were a suspicious number of Scottish items eg oatcakes and Irn Bru.

This afternoon hubby mentioned the lack of interesting items, then while we were chatting he refreshed the website and suddenly "Tasty Scran" appeared, starting 28th August. For the uninitiated, this is a Scottish food promotion that taunts me every few months with the promise of such delights as haggis pakora and square sausage, until I read the line that says. "Only available in Scotland" :banghead:

Except - miraculously, on 28th August, and for a couple of days afterwards, we WILL BE IN SCOTLAND! If I could do cartwheels I'd be rolling around the house for sheer joy.

Oh and there's apparently a Lindt concession at Gretna Services with a Lindor pick'n'mix, could my week get any better?

Hope your day is full of similar levels of joy in small things.

7.8 that is already below, I hope it does continue, and I have been behaving.
Garden duties done except for watering (sshh!)
Fence not finished yet but started.
Mrs L has had a confusion day. Things are just not straight or reality.
An extra hours nap this afternoon.
Apparently, two things from social services, first carers in morning and evening will continue for as long as we need it. Secondly we are getting an extra one in early afternoon according to a phone call.
A new carer turned up for this morning which confused Mrs L even more.
Have phoned counselling service because doctor has referred me. Will have to wait somewhere around six weeks for the telephone assessment. But I did tell them of my previous counselling and the mental health practitioner observations regarding my anxiety and depression. Also my acceptance of something not right with my head etc. I am aware now of my family's concerns.
And of course they are checking up on me, regularly.
Kitchen duties await. Hope temptation can be avoided........ We are having chicken, what can go wrong?
My best wishes and thanks for the hugs.

If you call into Moffat on the way home, Wallace Brothers Butcher does Larne sausage and other tasty treats to bring home

We're breaking the journey south with a night in Carlisle so will sadly have to pass on this one. Tebay services should offer similar quality English meats which will have to do.

This painting of trees is beautiful @dunelm

A mixed bag Lamont.

A win for more help and continued assistance.

A hug for Mrs L's confusion, hopefully it's a reduction to how she was before the care home assessment.

And a brotherly hug for your own issues

I found the counselling very useful

Some of it was helpful tips..like remind myself to truly assess the anxiety, and judge if it is a likely or not, helped particularly.

But the greatest help was some one listening, not judging, just letting me pour out the contents of my mind on to a table , if you will

Which let me piece together the fragments that were still intact, and let me try ways to rearrange them to cover the gaps in my thinking that had appeared .

Yes, it was good to talk through some worrying thoughts, and have someone understand yet calm me by making suggestions or making me think through the problem/issue, so in essence I ended up making my own solutions

But I could never have got there without some one hearing and encouraging me

I hope the assessment is sooner than you think and you find a similar comfort from it as I did .

Take care.

Not everyday will be perfect
But each day is another chance to put linto practice what you've learned, and help you to find ways to live a better life, if not free of, at least with a reduced sense of anxiety .

Respect my friend for all you've been through

Many might have crumbled
But not you
you're made of sterner stuff

Namaste.

I've been trying to watch the News on BBC this morning but my little TV is behaving strangely. It keeps changing from a TV channel to DVD. I thought it might be the remote control misbehaving, but it still happened when I took the batteries out, so it isn't that. Then I thought it might be some problem with the BBC signal but it is doing it on other channels as well. I suppose it could be a problem with whatever it is that gets the signal to us ( some kind of booster station) or it might be the TV itself. Meantime I've turned it off. It was switching every 2 or 3 minutes and getting very annoying. I hope WW3 hasn't started while I wasn't looking.

BG at 05.00 was 8.2. Libre alarm went off 3 times during the night to let me know that it was over 8.0 so I suppose it was dropping just below 8 and then going up above 8 again. Annoying. Actually the Libre monitor has been behaving a bit strangely recently - giving me multiple alarms, telling me for the first time ever that the battery was running low, telling me to try again in 10 minutes because it couldn't get a reading, sounding an alarm because it couldn't get a signal from the sensor only 3 feet away from it. I probably should phone Abbott and ask about that.

DIL is having trouble with her sensors at the moment - they keep falling off (opposite to me, I have trouble getting them off). Also, somehow she's managed to misplace her Aviva fingerprick kit so can't get a reading for her BG. Yesterday she collapsed in town, probably due to being over-tired (she tries to do too much) but maybe something to do with her BG. Alistair got her home (had to break off his round and go to town to get her) but they had no way of telling if the problem was diabetes related or not. He came last evening and borrowed my Aviva kit so they could get some idea. Haven't heard yet what the outcome was.

Is the DVD connected via an HDMI port? If so, turn both off and unplug. This might reset. Check and clean HDMI port. If it’s neither of those then it will need further investigation.

Thanks for the advice, @dunelm. I'll have to ask Neil about that - little though he likes TV at all. It's too technical for me, I'm afraid.
