What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
Blood sugars this morning were 7.3

Apologies to those pondering the variables of blood sugars. In my, mine and myself’s experience they are like trying to solve a simultaneous equation with a million variables, now I have said that before and will probably say it again. Give me quantum mechanics any day.

How the mighty have fallen, this Morning we had hand rails fitted. Yes they are a tremendous help.
Now if knobody minds I’m going to have an early afternoon nap.
Stay safe and stay warm.

3.7 at 04.00 today. 4.0 by the time I got to the kitchen.

I only got to bed at 01.45 but straight to sleep so that was about 2 hours. Another hour in the chair after some painkillers. I wonder if this stupid sleeping pattern is making my BG pattern equally stupid. Left hand taken a step backwards last night and today.

BG just dropped from the 6's down to 3.3 so I ate a toffee and had a cup of tea. 15 minutes later: Still waiting for it to rise even a bit. Might have to do something else - find the packet of digestive biscuits - pretty sure there is one in the cupboard.
Hi,

Are you taking the readings from a sensor or the fingerprick way?
I find my libre can lag long after I recover from a low. Making it seem I was Hypo for longer than I actually was..

Yes, it is a sensor reading. I check every so often with a finger prick, but that's not so easy now that the hands are not working so well - even holding the Libre reader is proving difficult atm. I usually find that something is happening after the 15 minute wait. But then, I usually react pretty decisively to carbs.

Currently Libre is saying 4.0, after dropping to 3.5 again. Found the packet of digestives and had one of those to fix it. Luckily Neil was right there to open the packet for me.

Do you have the libre set up to send readings by Bluetooth or do you just NFC scan?
Using Bluetooth connection to a phone app might help if you have dexterity issues?
I even have my libre readings sent to my smartwatch. It's as easy as telling the time..
I don't have hand issues myself but even a magnetic watch strap negates the fiddle with strap buckles..

If this helps?

I'm just so old fashioned. I don't have a Smart phone or a digital watch. Can't even get my old battery-analogue watch onto my swollen wrist either. I/we don't trust modern technology and don't use more than we find necessary/or can afford, come to that.

7.5 and it feels like 10.
I'm very low again, just don't want to do anything. Even the smallest chores is huge.
Mrs L is being positive by having a rest day to give me some me time.
thiǹk I will chance a chippy tonight. Can't be bothered cooking.

dry and cool today, not me, the weather you fools.

my best wishes.

Following the very reasonable request by moderators to include a FBG once a day - as is in the title of the thread, a link to the request as a reminder or for those that may have missed it
Post in thread 'What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)'
https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/th...lood-glucose-full-on-chat.163627/post-2791444

We would like to thank the vast majority of members who use this thread for accepting the request with grace & understanding & for trying their hardest to comply. We understand there will be the odd day when you don’t test for whatever reason & that’s fine as long as you include a brief explanation of why you haven’t tested on that day.

However there has been a number of posts from a minority of members with veiled derogatory remarks towards the moderators, these have now been dealt with. We would like to remind forum members of the rules B9 & in particular C10 Creating forum content, with the intent of criticising Moderators will not be tolerated.

Any continuation of these veiled remarks will result in the offending member receiving sanctions on their account, including thread bans, warnings and possible permanent forum ban. It could also result in a permanent locking of the thread, which would be an absolute shame for all those who use it correctly & garner lots of support & friendship from the chat

Once again thank you to all the members who continue to posts within the rules & ethos [of the forum]

Good evening everyone on a relatively balmy day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.7 this a.m. on the gom jabar.
A pleasant walk in the sunshine today grabbing as much vitamin D as possible. Quite a few more people than the usual few die hards having a dip in the sea. Funicular not open so had to count the steps back up from the lower prom.
Hope your day has been kind to you. Smile!

That’s fair enough. I buy dated tech dirt cheap that suits my needs because everyone passes it over to part cash for the latest model?
Had a stinker of an FBG this morning in the 10s. I only lowered my basal for the run around on the day job..

Sometimes the KIS approach is the best.. Keep It Simple.. :) I started off as a kid like that. “Use the force.” Feel the hypo.. Not even a meter back then..

Yes, I do agree that sometimes (or maybe often) the KIS approach is the best.

5.5 this morning.
Yesterday went well with classes and 1:1s - although I am feeling a bit tired today. The nurses did warm me that if I overdid it I would feel tired - so maybe I did overdo it a bit.
Head is healing well.
Mr K checked it this morning and said it looked a lot better.I

I did eat better yesterday. I fell off the wagon a bit in December but am now back on track
.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were upon waking 5.7, now 8.7

The hand rails and stair hand rail that were fitted yesterday have been a tramendous help, I would recommend them for more able bodied parsons, the only caveat is the stair hand rail is knot suitable for pole dancing if your grandchildren have been watching pop song videos.

Today is a sad day in Tilehurst Towers, lett me explain, after a tremendous battle Mrs J has won and going too cut my hair. I might evan look respectable. The nearest, these days I get to a barbers is watching on the box, barber shop singers.
Later in the day it is back to the doctors for legs treatment and dressing change, painfull, yep, but my legs are showing a slow improvement thanks to the skull of the medics.

Stay safe, stay warm all.

5.7 at 03.20 today.

I'm really feeling the lack of sleep these days and keep on dozing off when I want to get on with things.

I've decided to ask DIL to take over my ironing and sewing. I just can't do it any more. Not that I iron much, but some things just look awful if they are all wrinkled, so they just stay in the ironing basket and never get worn. There are lots of little repair jobs that I need done as well but the hands just are not going to do it, so we'll see if she can manage it for me.

Sensor back on yesterday ..so able to take FBG which was 8.3 ...my contour meter has finally given up the ghost ..never had to change battery or anything had it since first DN meeting ...only 5 testing strips given and had to pay for them since. .

7.5 on the meter maid thingy.
Took Mrs L out to the shops in town, and found the bestest new butcher in town. There was some bargains and some not so cheaper bargains.
Mrs L was very reasonable going around and it was something different from before.
I really hope Mrs L continues to be this good.

As soon as we returned Mrs L fell asleep.

Mrs L also last evening broke the flush and we had a little flood through into the kitchen, towels necessary and a quick fix. Of course it was my fault. It's not the first time and not the last.I

Best wishes every one.

I've not been the barber's for around forty years.
Lack of cover on top, it's unfortunate that it's common in my genes.
A shave is all I need every few weeks. It does save a lot of cash.

You could use a pony tail or a top knot, they can be fashionable.
But I don't know what that is like.

A 7.2 yesterday morning, which was a pleasant surprise given my eating of late.

A short trip to local park.
(Good for the old mental health)

And came across this mist-ery mist.
So thought I'd share.

Pleasant day, Y'all.Screenshot_2026-01-14-07-43-21-714_com.google.android.apps.photos-edit.jpg
