Im always looking for items in can bake with or the occasional retail item that's ok enough
This week I popped 2kg almond flour in my basket.
I had used Ai to find a cake recipe. AND want to use almond with wholewheat flour for pastry

$500 of rib eye steak, chicken breasts and langostinos from our local supplier, who sources local. I guess I could squeeze all that into a large shopping basket.

I went to Costco and stocked up my freezer with chicken fillets, king prawns, high percentage pork sausages, salt and pepper pork belly slices and salmon fillets.

Edit to add, and gammon steaks.

Well, fun thread.
I’m in Mexico now so my great happiness was finding the European sausage factory and getting some homemade jalapeño and cheddar sausages…very good indeed. House made bacon too, something very hard to find here.

Not trusting the weather this week so to be sure I bought a lot without having actual meals in mind, there's a
enough for different meals.
A bag of runner beans, a celeriac, onions, tomatoes, a cauliflower, garlic, chilli peppers. Carrots for the bunnies but I may steal a couple. Canned tomatoes.
Minced meat, a smoked sausage (Dutch style, zero carbs), cold meats like boiled and smoked pork belly slices, liverwurst, eggs, crème fraîche, cottage cheese, various other cheeses.
Chocolate (85%), hummus, milk for coffee and tea, butter.

Have you made the cake already, and how did it work out?

Hi, I am not usually a poster but I do like food.
I went to Lidl yesterday as they are promoting a Eastern European week. Bought a jar of pickled herring.
I had some on my last visit to Amsterdam and they were quite delicious, fresh and probably better.
Lidl also had some Greek food from their Greek week. Olives, cheese and greek olive oil, all found their way to my basket.
Brussels sprouts sneaked in too.
And if anyone is near Brighton, there is a lovely deli in the North Laines that has locally made sausages. The best.

Eggs, green beans, sirloin steak, frankfurters, tinned red salmon, Italian ham, mushy peas, frozen peas, pork scratchings, dark chocolate and a bottle of Shiraz. The supermarket is quite local, so I don't buy a lot at a time.

Here's this week's list:

Butcher: 2x sirloin/ribeyes; eggs; bacon (streaky, unsmoked)
Supermarkets: lurpak garlic butter; bratwurst; cabbage; lard; double cream; mushrooms; salami/ham/prosciutto etc

already obtained: 2x sangiovese

Edit - all obtained plus some Polish sausage, salmon and cream cheese.

Oven at 350 F - 180 C (?)
Recipe . Lemon cake suitable for type 2 diabetic. Check its OK for your diet
100 g almond flour / 25g wholewheat flour (My choice of mix)
60g Margarine ( I use pro floral or benevolent)
1/2 then baking powder, 1/4 baking soda
60g your choice of sweetner
1 egg
1 tpn vanilla 1dspn lemon juice ( I use bottled- lemon and zesty can be used)
Topping if wanted. - lemon juice & sweetness.

Cream Marg & sweetner until fluffy 1min Add all ingredients except lemon. Combine [ hand mixer], scrape down bowl as u go
Add lemon . Mix , then combine with mixer
I used approx 6 inch cake tin with loose base. Recipe says 8-9.. Grease it, add and spread evenly in the pan
Bake at 350 F - 180 C , check that for 30. So topnis lightly golden and prong comes out clean when inserted and removed
Yummy. Suggested sprinkle sweetner used across the top to suit. And dribble lemon juice when the cake has cooled
Note my cake came out about 2cm thick, made 6 portions. Next time Id use x 1 1/2 _ 2 x recipe to freeze. And make a pirate non Dia cake for family.

Today was delivery day. Inclued in the basket
No sugar Alpro yog, 2% fat thick yog, avocado, (pea shoots, watercress, rocket) salad pack, celery and quark. No meat , poultry etc as the freezer /cupboard is full of items of meat, fish, poultry, vegan and veggie items for the week. Wholewheat bread or rye bread ; fruit and veg come from local family shops

The cake sounds lovely. There’s a cafe near here which sells a Tunisian orange and almond cake. It uses a small amount of breadcrumbs and ground almonds but no flour. I’m thinking of trying it and substituting sweetener for the sugar.

My regular basket includes cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, onions, red peppers, mushrooms, meat of some sort, high quality sausages, smoked salmon, cream cheese, other cheeses and eggs. I always have almond flour in but buy it from Amazon.

I like to make crackers with almond flour, grated cheese, and sesame seeds https://thebigmansworld.com/keto-crackers/

Sounds great. If theres a recipe re orange /almond cake please share.

I forgot that on a regular basis I also buy fish dierectly from a local fishing boat that unloads and sells directly on the harbour. Obviously depends what their catch is but I have bought langoustines, brill, Dover sole, plaice, skate, scallops. I can’t bring myself to buy the live crab or lobster though.

@Lakeslover @Bobby105 this is considered the best & classic orange & almond cake, I’ve been making it for years, just sub the sugar for sweetener of your choice, it doesn’t keep long but freezes well. I usually portion it up. Special occasions I make an orange cream cheese frosting with cream cheese, half an orange juiced, sweetener & a little bit of double cream or yogourt justvto loosen it a bit

So to stay on topic of the thread editing to add that I had a delivery from the farm down the road today for the weekend, their own thick cut bacon & sausage from their own pigs & some shorthorn ribeye steak & their own black pudding, have guests at the weekend so will be doing some cracking cooked breakfasts
