What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just adding my best wishes for @LamontD.
So sorry you are having such a tough time. Hope you make a good recovery, and you and your dear wife are receiving all the care and support you deserve and need.

Morning all from a sunshiny L.A. Fbg of 4.6 here after allowing the sensor to decompress from me sleeping on that side. @Lamont D I too am sorry to hear of your stroke but as said I'm sure you and Mrs L will be well cared for. @Annb hug for the soreness. @Krystyna23040 have a blessed Sunday. Take care everyone. Peace be with you.

Thank you @ianpspurs . Am having a lovely relaxing day.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who are slowly ending their hibernation.

Blood sugars this morning were 6.6

I’m using the last few minutes of peace and quiet to type this, before Mrs J emerges from her wing of Tilehurst Towers making outrageous demands such as “Make the tea”.

I’m going to make the most of today and I might speak to a stranger, and if I can make them smile it will be a bonus.
Stay safe.

Edit
For no reason :)

8.9 at 04.10 today. I'd got to bed about 01.00 so that was just about 3 hours from my last reading which was 12.8. Not good but BG has been running pretty high for days now - most of the time (one drop into the 3's for no known reason). Soon after getting through to the kitchen and taking pills it was 9.5 but now, after a 6 am breakfast (and a hefty dose of insulin) it is 11.5. Should be OK though as I am attempting to fast until 7 pm so there's no reason for it to stay up. When I say fast, I mean no food but I can allow myself water. Don't dare not to drink sufficient through the day due to kidney/dehydration issues.

I know I'm a bit late in starting - I didn't think I would manage it and I know it isn't recommended at my age, but I do want to try to do it for the rest of the period. We'll see how I get on. Haven't been too successful in recent years - the old T2 got in the way but I'm a bit more relaxed about that now.

Morning all from a very sunshiny, blossom and daffodils everywhere L.A. Fbg was 4.8 at 8.52 and is 4.7 now, 11.09. @Annb I applaud the intention but do be sure to monitor things and be prepared to make a sensible decision. There were always exemptions. I, a BCP Anglican, like the Pope's idea of fasting in a more contemporary way using language in a way that could offend or hurt. Fasting for the social media age I feel. I hope those long time members who are absent are either recovering or content and settled on their new way of life. Enjoy the weather and signs of new life where possible.

Not disagreeing with the Pope, Ian, but that is surely what we should be doing all the time, not specially for the fast. I will definitely be careful and try not to be stupidly stubborn - no fears there. Libre will keep me on track.

I read this as the Pope advocating for an updated approach for an age where amassing followers and money from advertising, or votes from decidedly unbrotherly language and ideas is very much an issue. Provocation pays. We need to be aware not just of just what we say but what we watch and read, who or what are we, perhaps unwittingly, monetising?. Who do our purchases, subscriptions and charity donations actually fund? Them's my onions anyhow.

I have just realised something strange. For something over a year, I have had a very painful tongue. The dentist said I have "a geographic tongue" with shiny patches on it. This shouldn't be painful. However, what is likely to be painful is ulcers, one of which he saw. I seem to have had a series of ulcers - one or two after another plus a feeling of electric shocks shooting through my tongue. There seems to be no cure for it.

Also, my gums swell, causing more difficulty when eating or trying to fit my false teeth.

Also, for the last while, maybe about 9 or 10 months, the toothpaste I have always used feels as though it is burning my mouth - an effect which lasts until after I have my first cup of tea.

It's not life threatening, or even a serious problem, but it is uncomfortable.

I mentioned to Neil the toothpaste thing and he brought home a tube of unflavoured toothpaste - I didn't know anyone made such a thing. Guess what - three days on, no burning mouth, no swollen gums and no ulcers or pain in my tongue. Can just toothpaste do that? Perhaps Colgate have changed their recipe and put something in that I react to, perhaps I have developed an intolerance over the years. Who knows, but it does seem to have been fixed just by this change of toothpaste.

I only mention this because maybe someone else out there has such a problem and it might be worth trying to find if something simple could be causing a reaction.

I had exactly the same problem @Annb. Many years ago I suddenly developed lichen planus with very painful ulcers in my mouth.
Luckily my dentist had just been to a conference that had discussed that sodium lauryl sulphate was a common cause of this issue and it was important to switch to Weleda toothpaste which didn't contain it.

It worked like magic and it very quickly disappeared.

I then found it very beneficial to ditch sodium lauryl sulphate from everything that I used even washing detergents. So that was the end of ichyness and soreness everywhere - thank goodness.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who like me, me’s and myself failed to hitch a trip to the space station.

Blood sugars this morning were 11.2 and are now 11.7 . Oh hum

Today is disaster darlings, disaster. Mrs J will be attacking my lush beard with hair clippers. Luckily not my hair.
Just for information my mates Chaos and Mayhem are up for parole in the next few days.

Have the best day you can, smile, whether you cleaned your teeth or not!

Good morning everyone on a wonderful sunny start to the day here at my mother’s house in France.
No idea what my blood sugars are as my finger jabber is on holiday in the top drawer of what now haughtily identifies as a bureau in the corner of our bedroom.

I am now an hour in the future so already I have taken rubbish sacks down to the collection point and then up to a boulangerie to get a boulle of decent bread for when a couple of mum’s pals descend for afternoon tea and gossip.

Most of the roads here are now clear of flood water and the clean up is well in hand. The park however is still knee deep in water as demonstrated by a couple of tall park workers in waders yesterday afternoon. Also the flood plains up river will take some time to return the lakes of water back into the river.

Hope you can decide to have a good day. We are getting mum’s scooter out and going out to make some vitamin D.
