Good afternoon everyone from the drafty interior of our somewhat noisy house here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.3 this a.m. before the window fitters arrived for day one of about four. Who thought that this was a good idea???

Some stomach bug doing the rounds and most of us have jumped on that bandwaggon with varying results. Not a great way to fast for a day or so.

Six monthly Echocardiogram tomorrow - what fun and then an appointment to get a referral to have cataracts replaced by built in Ray Ban Navigators - it’s all the rage man!

Oscars - gladly missed due to being more interested in watching some paint dry.

Morning all from a windy and cool L.A. where my mood was lightened yesterday by Igor T seeing sense. Unrelated but Fbg was 4.7 today after yesterday's chicken dinner. Nearly matched the well known saying but Pigeon missed a couple. @alf_Josiah, good news on Grandson cutting the lawns to help. Our grandson did similar last year and will do so this year if his dad ever brings either of our mowers back. I have wondered (more than that actually) about buying one of the robot ones but JKP has (so far, she thinks) talked me out of the impulse. (see below re coats) @Krystyna23040 good that yesterday was relaxing and this week is less hectic. We also recently had an air fryer decease and acquired a Ninja one. What with the N kettle, entering the kitchen is like braving the attached. Y'all have a good day now, warmth (well a few layers less) is coming - good time to buy coats for next autumn and winter. I saw one I liked while watching the rugby on Saturday so obviously incoming - well. now JKP approves. Negotiated down from the Arc'teyrx one I first mooted (you're not a gangsta and you don't go up mountains. Ian ) - the art of the deal Peace be with you. Good happy St Paddies day all.

My blood sugars early this morning were at their lowest 6.6 and now 7.7

Today is leg treatment day, oh deep joy, I am not being treated by my usual nurse, but an extremely experienced nurse who brings her own humour to the appointment. Totally different to my usual nurse. Let screaming in pain commence and also the giggles.

Now it seems that I shall have to cook my own breakfast. Mrs J as left strict instructions that I’m not allowed to wake her up. It’s amazing how the noise of the clattering of pots and pans travels. If you see in the media the story of a Reading man murdered by wife, well enough said.

Now it’s time to wish you all a happy Wednesday, and today as well.

Morning all from a definitely not spring like L.A. My fbg was 4.6 this morning. @alf_Josiah sympathy and hugs for leg treatment day but very much a winner for the humour in such trying times. Here, the window cleaner has been and my new coat has arrived - thank you Topsy Ojo for modelling that last Saturday. Enjoy your day and have a sonnet.

5.4 at 02.50 today. Took some painkillers and tea then woke up at 08.00!

The Community Equipment people phoned to let me know they would be arriving in half an hour to pick up the equipment they had loaned me until I got my own riser/recliner sorted out. I'd also asked, while they were at it, for them to take away the gadget they had put into my bed to raise the top of it (it had just made my bed uncomfortable). I was expecting them to come at the end of the week, but they took me by surprise. Bit of a rush to get the bed stripped and get the cover off the chair. So anyway, it's done. My own chair looks like a bit of a monster with extra cushioning under the cover, but I can get in and out of it easily enough and it will raise my legs so who cares what it looks like? Now I just have to remake the bed.

Neil was going to town to buy some wood to repair our fence (parts of it blown away in a recent gale) and to get some shopping for me, but he has just come back in to say that the battery was too low, car wouldn't start so he connected the spare battery, still not recharged from previous use. No use. Attached jump leads from grandson's car (SORN and sitting in our drive) but the leads arced and managed to ruin the terminals on the battery. Wonderful! The original battery is now on charge so no trip to town until tomorrow and then we'll need a new battery for the car. Maybe everything is just too wet out there.

BG has been all over the place today. First real hypo in ages, then correction has gone too far and I am now into the 9's and rising. So much for fasting today. Nice, warming cup of tea required to settle me down a bit.

8.2 at 03.50 today. Been a bit lower and then back to 8.1 just now. No breakfast yet. It will not be a fast day today either - feeling too grotty to even think about it. I will be thinking about breakfast some time soon to see if that steadies me down a bit.

Bright and sunny here at the moment. With any luck it will last. We finally have some daffodils flowering - later than even further along our own road, but welcome now.

Morning all from a sunny L.A. but the temperature needs to improve by around 8-10 °C to suit me - its the layers, stupid @Annb I hope the grottyness dissipates, Neil has successfully charged the battery and acquires the wood - should I say lumber? @alf_Josiah I hope leg day went as well as could be expected and recovery is going well. Meanwhile, in Tudor London the sick, lame and lazy are now starting to rejoin the lads who do PE. Keto muffins, Californian blueberry obviously what with the sun and location, are on the menu here. Mrs J has been repainting some planters I made for her, many years ago. They now have a dual function, to look nice with pretty weeds in and to function as hand holds for me to get up on to the patios.
My job was to act tea boy.

Now I shall now finish clearing up kitchen, before muttering commence.

I had a bit of an argument with a robot today. Was trying to sort out a return of a damaged product to Amazon and the robot was not answering my questions. In the end it transferred the call to a human who very easily sorted it.

My sister was working in the office with me and thought it was hilarious that I had got cross with a robot.

Yes, it is so annoying. You would think that they would make sure they got them to work properly before using them to replace humans.

‘Tis day four of windowgate - it may be completion day but just as likely may drag on until the end of time. Today, allegedly, they are doing the upper gable end - I’m thinking Tommy Coooper and Eric Sykes do Just a Knockout.

Driving licence renewed using the online application form. “Do you want to keep the current photo or upload another?”
Well - now - the chimp jumped in (honest gov is wasn’t me) - I now have a smashing photo take circa 1980 and now look as though Ponds Cold Retinol, Collagen Q10, pepto bismol cream actually works?

Art bit - two inks bleeding out onto wet paper.

8.2 at 05.20 today. Slept longer than I intended and paid the price! BG has been up and down a bit since then but is currently in the 4's and I am watching that it doesn't drop further.

Leg day today and Neil has a lot of shopping to do. The car did start up alright yesterday but there seemed no point in going to town two days in a row, so it was put off until today.

News arrived yesterday that Son2 will have the ICD implanted next Thursday . That is if he manages to remain infection free until then. If all goes well he might be home by the weekend.
MrSlim is threatening to kidnap me home. I understand that a great deal of work has been done on the house in my absence, and I appreciate the virtues of insulation, very much and understand that this will make the house more energy efficient. However the aesthetic value of restoring and painting the disgustingly mouldy and flaking doors on the second floor, as well as repainting all twelve of the doors and the stairwell, none of this actually makes guests more comfortable. I have been pleading for the family bathroom to being installed, but the disgusting doors were somehow more important.
Current facilities are ensuite to the guest (eventually master bedroom, badly in need of decoration) or downstairs.
Not convenient for either hosts or guests.
The end of May deadline is fast approaching when MrSlim has arranged a 'surprise" party with guests from the UK. So at least the bathroom needs to be finished by then.
Currently there is a nice tidy room on the second floor. Insulated plasterboarded and painted. New larger rooflight installed. The floor has been sanded, stained and polished.
This lovingly developed room is to be used for storing MrSlims extensive collection of tools. Maybe I will have something to stay about that.
