What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen

Blood sugars this morning were 7.6

Exercise day and dentist day today, but luckily not at the same time, also it is national bin day.
My tea is almost history and koffy is coming over the horizon
Have a great day all, in the face of adversity…..run

Another day when I don't know which reading to take as FBG. Went to bed about 24.30 last night and woke up at 01.15 when Libre alarm went off (BG down to 3.7) had my emergency can of sweetened coffee which put BG up to 6.6 about 10 minutes later. I figured that it was OK to go back to sleep then (about 02.00). Woke up at 04.00 with BG of 5.5. But that couldn't really be called a fasting BG. Take your pick!

Legs all nicely bandaged again for another week. Shopping done by Neil. So that's us all settled until next Thursday.

Cold and windy here today. I suppose that's what to expect of springtime. The house could be warmer but I'm being mean and keeping the heating turned down. Back to the extra layers of clothes.

Blood sugars this morning were a massive 12.7

I’m not going to hang my head in shame, in fact I’m going to continue to be my usual disreputable self now I must move on with my day, but koffy is calling.

At about lunchtime we have friends calling in for a vegan bacon sarnie, we have not seen them since November last year, they live in the Manchester area and are heading down to Reigate area for the weekend with family, let’s hope the traffic deity is kind to them.

Now it’s time for me to move on with my day, I shall smile, growl when I want, if not caught by Mrs J

5.5 this morning.
Last night after classes a class member was saying hello to Bonnie who was in the car which was by the fire door which we always exit from. We had a lovely chat to the class member then got in the car and drove off.

We were almost home when I had a horrible thought

Had we closed the fire door. To go back and check it would entail a 50 mile round trip.

Luckily I had the phone number of a class member who lived just around the corner from the church and she was able check - and we had closed it.

We were actually very lucky because they had set off yesterday morning with their caravan and had broken down and had just arrived home in a recovery truck. So their misfortune was our good fortune. It is strange how the world works.

Morning all from an anything but springlike L.A. Fbg today appears to have been 5.2. Anyone else notice Libre reads very high - not so much that but known meals/food - for the last 36-48 hrs? @Krystyna23040 interesting tale but all's well that ends well. @alf_Josiah enjoy the time with friends. Peace be with you all.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.2

Unfortunately for me, me’s and myself Mrs J is stirring in her lair / pit which means my peace and quiet will be shattered and will be told to make her tea, oh how the mighty have fallen.
Yes dear……

On my third cup of tea so far. FBG (03.20) was 7.9. Cold again today, still in 3 layers, with a 4th standing by. It's bright and sunny at the moment though, if a bit on the breezy side. Yesterday brought hail, sleet and snow but it didn't lay, I'm glad to say. Will today bring a heatwave? I doubt it somehow.

My electricity supplier got in touch with me with a wonderful new offer- half price electricity in hours allocated by myself instead of the 11-4 Saturdays and Sundays which I already have. I had a go at setting it up yesterday only to find that the only cheap times available were in the early hours on some week days (we are often warned by the fire service NOT to go to bed leaving machines working) or 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday - 2 hours less a week and at the same time of day as previously. Great offer - losing 2 hours of cheaper electricity!

9.4 at 04.35 today. I, of course, thought it was still 3.35. Well - to me it was because it was only 23/4 hours after I got to bed on the old time. Not that it made much difference anyway, I still went back to sleep in the chair under the influence of my chosen recreational drug! It did drop to 7.4, but it's back in the 8's now.

Bright, sunny day today but a bit on the breezy side. Wonder if our ferry is working today. Calmac has 10 ferries on this west coast but apparently 8 of them are out of action which is causing a bit of a stir. Haven't heard if ours is still running or if it is one of the unfortunate 8. Not sure why there are so many problems - bad management, poor maintenance, poor quality in the first place ... possibly a combination of all those. Ship owners are notorious for their meanness when it comes to allocating funds for maintenance. Well, all they have to do is check their dividends. They don't have to travel on the ships. Nor do most of them have to rely on a ferry to live on an island.

What's that you say - "You chose to live on an island." True, very true, but the old "Loch Seaforth" was on the route then and, though small and old fashioned, it was reliable (being Clyde built) and it sailed in all weathers. Not sure that Clyde built means the same as it once did either.

Morning all on a distinctly chilly Palm Sunday in L.A.. Spring seems to have been delivered to somewhere else but no note was left. Fbg on the new Libre was 4.4 which seems like a good outcome from fish, chips and peas last evening. I didn't fit the sensor until bedtime so I don't know how high that meal went. The batter was am-ay-zing as nothing Elsie achieves ever comes close to that texture. I didn't eat many chips - local shops here add chips even if we ask for just fish - as after a few minutes they go cold and distinctly unappetising. #3 son, partner and 2 grandchildren here for lunch - he will cook. Leg of lamb - not a cut I like. Sainsbury's seem to have offers on LOL though never shoulder. Yes, I know I'm blessed to be able to chose and gravy (proper ah, B****) with mint sauce tastes divine daahling, divine. Anyone here ever eaten Lamb Henry which we came across on S's website? A One :playful: is unclear of the origin but it is shoulder of lamb so would suit me/us.. Peace be with you all.

Forgot to take FBG this morning.
Ate hearty breakfast of bacon, egg, sausage, mushrooms, my weekly treat of one slice of seeded wholemeal bread fried in bacon fat, several mugs of back coffee. Two hours later, BG 5.5.

@ianpspurs , Lamb Henry, delicious.slow cooked foreshoulder of lamb marinated overnight in a mint based sauce , is a particular favourite in this household. Especially if salt marsh lamb is available.

Thank you for that Pipp. When we tried salt marsh lamb we were distinctly underwhelmed but shoulder of lamb always works well for us. On a side note, my son and I played cricket with the Saltmarsh family. Dad S sold the biggest range of tomato plants I have ever seen - all for a pittance. I think the money raised went to charity.

I perhaps led to misunderstanding, @ianpspurs ?:bag:
Know nothing of your friends of the name Saltmarsh. Though they sound like decent folks.

My reference to saltmarsh lamb was this

Lamb that has grazed in the habitats of the saltmarshes in north west, including parts of Cheshire and North Wales, have a distinct flavour of their own, due to the unique grazing. Usually turning it into Lamb Henry is not necessary, as the taste is then masked by the mint, but it is a very tender meat, as long as it is cooked slowly.

Dungeness in Kent produces good saltmarsh lamb - a bit overshadowed these days by proximity to the nuclear power station which, of course, has no effect on the lamb!

BG just as I went to bed at 00.36 last night was dropping and at 4.5. Not a good idea to go to bed with that reading so I had my emergency can of sweetened coffee. Nevertheless, it dropped a few minutes later to 3.7. Another 15 minutes though, and it was back to 5.9, so I went to sleep. Woke again at 03.00 and t was 6.4. Down again and up again to 8.2 after an omelette for breakfast. Fasting BG is a meaningless term really, for me.

Recycling bin day today and Neil has put the bins out, so all's well. The sun keeps coming out and then going behind clouds so the kitchen is either too bright to see what I'm doing, or too dark to see what I'm doing. The wind seems to have dropped a bit but it is still cold. Summer-time now but you wouldn't know it. Summer-time, but not summer, of course.

Good morning all,
Am pleased to report that Son2 has had his final operation and been released from hospital. He won't be allowed to drive for six months and exercise will be severely curtailed. Its going to be a time of adjustment for him.
MrSlim has arrived and we are returning to France in a few days time.

So glad to hear that your son is doing well enough to leave hospital. It will take time for him to adjust to the new lifestyle, but I'm sure he will manage it. Have a good journey back to France with Mr Slim and back to working on the house.
