What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.8 at 03.00 today. And rising.

2 cups of coffee so far and 2 lots of painkillers. Mostly due to very sore muscles adding to my normal arthritic soreness. That's what comes of trying to walk on Wednesday. Burnt off some sugar, but not worth the effort, I think. Insulin has the same effect.

It's turned cold here after the balmy temperatures we had (actually got up to 15C a couple of days ago!) but now, although the sun is dispersing the cloud cover, it is very breezy and everywhere has cooled down. Still wearing my winter sweater but adding a shawl to achieve "the layered look" (the cozy but frumpy old lady look).
I quite like the cozy but frumpy old lady look, since the temperatures went in the 40s where I am and have gone down to the 20s, I am in a comfy cozy cardigan whilst hubby is in t shirt and shorts! Thank goodness I work in a salon and can keep warm :nailbiting:

7.9 at 02.15 today. Not great, but better than yesterday.

I have a google meet meeting this morning (family history society) but am having trouble making it work - I think it's my old trouble with bandwidth - my camera and microphone need too much, I think. I have just got into the settings and reduced the definition on the video to see if that will help. Fingers crossed. This is on my desktop PC - the Samsung tablet just won't let me into google meet at all - it just offers me a wikipedia entry for it. Struggling with this techie stuff is making my brain feel fuzzy (is that what they mean by fuzzy logic? ;))
I did get google meet to work, after a fashion. The sound wasn't good - the person on the other end sounded as though he was under water - but we could make each other out. I did manage to improve it a bit by turning off my camera. It obviously is a problem with bandwidth. Nothing I can do about that.

5.9 at 04.15 today.

I was very tired yesterday and dozed off when I sat down in the afternoon. Not unusual. The phone wakened me. Since we switched to BT temporarily, we have had problems with our landline (no longer a landline but works on the interne). The main issue is that it rings twice then either just shuts down or transfers to answerphone. If I want to take the call I have to get there before the second ring. It no longer gives me 1471 or 1571 so I can call back. Apparently there is a way I can see who called, but I can't make it work. Result is that when the phone rings, I jump and answer within a second and a half.

As I picked up the phone I looked at the clock and it said 6.30. In my sleep befuddled state, I thought it was 6.30 am and was alarmed because such an early call can only be bad news. But it was a friend who was at the funeral last week wanting to know if she could come and visit today. I said that was fine but I was thinking "Why are you calling me so early in the morning to arrange a visit?"

Then I realised that I was dressed and it slowly dawned on me that Tuesday was almost gone, not just starting. Idiot!

I keep forgetting about this side of the forum. I have it in my favourites but it does not remind me!
Hi @Lainie71

Welcome back to the chatty thread.

Just a gentle reminder that the thread is firstly about posting your FBG. Once you’ve done that you are welcome to chat along for the rest of the day, but please don’t forget to post the FBG.

White rabbits. Welcome to July. Good morning all. My fbs today was 9.7 which wasn't too bad considering that due to a nasty attack of IBS I ate low fat and carby food such as porridge, toast and 1/2 jacket potato with cottage cheese for my meals. My HbA1c blood test yesterday was fine. Just got to hope the results are in my favour for my appointment with the diabetes team on Friday. During the 10 weeks since my last test I have been ill including a week of antibiotics and a nasty fall with painful after effects so I hope they have not increased my overall result.
This morning I received a letter saying I have been charged £100 fine by a private company for parking at my hairdressers despite me putting my car registration number into the hairdressers machine on the day and parking in a customer's parking space. It said that if I paid within 14 days from the day of parking (10th June) the fee would be reduced to £60 but the letter arrived this morning (1st July) so already past the deadline. I rang the hairdressers and they told me to take the letter into them so they can confirm I was a customer at the time. Apparently they had received 5 similar cases recently. I hope they can sort it, otherwise it will be an expensive haircut! Here's wishing you a happy and sunny July but without the humidity of June! :)

5.5:this morning.

Had really good news this week. My favourite pub across the road from my Norwich venue has reopened with new landlords.

In about 2 weeks time they will start doing food. It is so much more convenient to just pop across the road for my meal rather than a long trek to the next nearest pub.

7.3 at 01.30 today (went to bed at 23.30 so no surprise I was up again so early).

Currently 9.2 but I didn't take insulin before my zero carb breakfast so that'll be why.

Legs day today but I can barely move - that really bad back pain is back. Might have to get Neil to bring the wheelchair in from the car for me. 2 lots of painkillers so far today haven't touched it. Showering was very difficult today and it makes me wonder how I'll manage if it gets worse - I can't exactly ask Neil to help me shower myself. Ah well, I haven't reached that stage yet, so no point worrying about it. Maybe I'll pop my clogs before that happens.:playful:

Hi Katyast. My readings aren't usually very low, although I do occasionally drop too low for reasons as yet undiscovered. I am on insulin and low carb diet, plus Metformin. Diabetic nurse doesn't want me to go too low because I'm apparently too old and daft (she didn't say senile, but that's what it amounts to) to be able to deal with low BG.

10.3 at 04.00 today, after a rather disturbed night. (Bed at 22.45 - very tired, up again at 01.05 for painkillers, back to bed at 02.30, slept under influence of painkillers until 03.40, gave up and got up).

My heart rate has been somewhat concerning recently as registered on the little oximeter supplied by the hospital so today I dug out my old one and checked it. The hospital one is showing 10bpm lower than my own one. I'm assuming that the hospital one is wrong.

Good afternoon all. I had an interesting appointment yesterday with a trainee GP and an established GP as I have been feeling unwell for some time. They examined me thoroughly and asked lots of questions. They said my symptoms could be due to 5 possibilities and have arranged for several tests. They also took my pulse and discovered my heart is missing a beat so have arranged an ECG.This morning my appointment with the diabetes team was also interesting. My HbA1c was 72--- 2 points lower than last time. ( No fb test this morning). My daily checks showed no obvious spikes but my ongoing levels are higher than is good for me. We decided it was time to start insulin injections. However, as I am feeling decidedly unwell at the moment and on yet another antibiotic, the prescription will be ordered from my GP then I am to store the insulin in the fridge until I feel ready to start it. I will then contact the diabetes team who will show me how to use it. Hopefully by then I will know what is causing my symptoms and have started relevant treatment. Hey ho! For now all I want to do is sleep! zzzzz My best wishes for the week-end. :)

What my doctor recently called "a regular irregular heartbeat" seems to run in our family. My mother had it, my brother has it, I have it and my son has it. Doctors told my brother that it is "atrial fibrillation" but my doctor says it is no kind of fibrillation because it happens regularly within a normal heart rate. Doesn't seem to be harmful but a bit distressing if it is accompanied by something else which makes you feel unwell.

Best wishes with those tests though and with the introduction of insulin. It is easy enough to administer and the packs of insulin will come with clear instructions but your medical practice should take you through the process before you start.

Blood sugars this Morening were 8.2

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen our house guests who arrived on Wednesday have left after a full on home cooked British fry up, no hash browns, as a special treat black pudding, like Mrs J and myself they won’t need any food until this evening, but by then they will on the west coast of Wales.
