"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Breakfast: scrambled egg. Still hungry so had a coffee. Felt really awful afterwards but recovered in time to go for my leg bandaging at the health centre. I felt as though it was the coffee that had upset my stomach so decided not to have any more coffee today.
This is a fairly new phenomenon - eat, coffee and feel sick and bloated for quite a while but it passes.
Came back from town and had 4 teaspoons of cottage cheese and a cup of tea. Felt sick again.
Had a phone call from the hospital - come in at 2 pm for a chest X-Ray. Went, still feeling a bit off, but recovering.
Came back. Cup of tea. Felt sick. Slept for a bout an hour. Half awake and needing to keep taking in fluid so I've made myself a cup of weak black tea and am waiting for it to cool. We'll see how that goes.
I may have an avocado, or half of one later. Have to eat but keeping food to a minimum for now.
No starches and only whatever carb is in a few splashes of milk in drinks and in cottage cheese. That's other than the 2 little ginger biscuits I had at 2.30 am when BG dropped down to 3.7.

@Annb I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you - hopefully these tests and medication changes will be worth it and you'll see some decent improvement. Sorry it's been a bad day for you today as well - hope that improves soon for you.

@shelley262 tigerella looks beautiful, does it taste as good as it looks? And your quiche looks so professional, not to mention delicious!

I've been out to lunch today, so it was porridge for breakfast and I had duck breast with vegetables at the pub, it was very nice.

I'm not really hungry at all now so might just fry up some courgettes with a couple of fish fingers for tea.

Avocado for breakfast. Black tea.
Planning to snack on cottage cheese at lunch time.
Ham salad for later.
I'm hoping this will stop me feeling sick when I eat.
I have to go out for an appointment with the optometrist at 1 pm today. Lots going on with my eyes- might be independent of all the rest, or it might be associated. Not sure. We'll see what she says.

@Annb hope your tummy settles soon and that all these tests are helpful.
@jpscloud the tigrellas do taste lovely but there again all home grown tomatoes I feel are in a different taste league than most - especially imported supermarket ones. Quiche delicious too - panda pantry do a high protein quiche recipe not only the golden panda pastry but the filling suggestions. Based on his ideas the liquid used instead of cream and eggs is blended cottage cheese with egg - really lovely.
Well my long seaside day out was amazing - perfect weather sunny but around 21 degrees and wonderful sea breeze. Lots of walking along the seashore.
We did have fish and chips by the seafront - although in a box rather than the paper that used to be used. Thankfully it was cod @jspcloud and George also had a small portion of chips so I tried one. It was more about memories and was fun but will take a picnic as usual for future outings like the low carb quiche we had for tea which was tastier.
I also had one scoop of pistachio ice cream mid afternoon served in a tub but it tasted very sweet. Nearly 10 years of low carb eating have definitely changed my tastebuds!
Back to normal today low carb granola breakfast, hummus and celery for lunch and salmon with veg for dinner. ( I have some dwarf black beans ready) Plus news on my runner bean plants - the flowers recently produced at the top of my plants look like they are setting so may get a few runner beans - fingers crossed!I
Have a good day all.

Had my appointment with the optomotrist. She did the normal tests and then took me through to take photos of the back of my eyes. On the strength of those photos she's referring me back to the opthalmologist at the hospital (long wait for an appointment).

My right eye isn't too bad but it is beginning to suffer from old age (macular degeneration) but the surface that the photo showed was relatively smooth, with just a few kinks in it which could be the cause of the flickering light in the corner of my eye and the slight fuzziness of images. My left eye, on the other hand looks like the surface of the sun when it is throwing out those great splodges of energy. It's a bit of a mess with gaps holding what might be fluid (blooming fluid again!) - no wonder it's not working very well. Not at all sure what an opthalmologist can do about it though. I thought I had a cataract which was causing a difference in colour from left to right eye, but apparently not. We'll see. (or maybe not).

In any case, there's no point in getting new glasses yet, so I'll just muddle on without.

@shelley262 I'm glad the day out went well and you enjoyed the food! Here's hoping for the runner beans!

@Annb yet more appointments! It must be exhausting but hopefully you'll get some good outcomes.

Porridge for breakfast, cottage cheese with garden salad for lunch (tomatoes, cucumber, onion, lettuce and rocket all from the garden!) and fish fingers with all my own garden vegetables - fried courgettes and climbing french beans and two small resistant starch potatoes for tea.

I gave away a couple of bags of runner beans yesterday! There was a sudden glut, and there'll be plenty to freeze later so they should really be enjoyed fresh. I get a lot of pleasure out of sharing my vegetables :joyful:

You're obviously an experienced cucumber grower - I've not grown any before. Mine should be mini ones according to the plant label! I have three cucumbers growing atm and one is now getting significantly bigger - however it still has spikes do I wait until the cucumber becomes smooth before I harvest it?
Well done on your harvest you must feel great producing all the salad ingredients and vegetables for your meals today. I'm not yet producing enough to give away but here's hoping.

No not at all! I've tried a few years in a row when my plants always died without actually producing any fruit at all. This year I went with mini munch on the windowsill very early summer, and that gave me about 5 little cucumbers, but the one in the small polytunnel is going great guns - the variety is party time, and there were five ripe cucumbers this morning - there are four now as I ate one for lunch! I might have to pick and put the others in the fridge, there are so many coming. I don't like pickles so likely will have to give some of those away too.

I'm not sure about when to pick your cucumber, some varieties keep the spiky bits and some don't - if it looks plump and ready it probably is, so might be worth picking - they're still delicious if they're not quite ready.

I wish there was a way to share my vegetables with forum members! I suppose the only way would be by courier so prohibitively expensive.

@jpscloud I did some research on spiky cucumbers and gather most outdoor varieties have them and you can wash\rub them off - so trying that today on my harvested one as part of my salad lunch.
Planning on roasting some of my tomatoes for breakfast in olive oil served on LC toast, salad lunch and curry for dinner. Also planning on adding some of my ripe courgettes to the chicken curry. Making some raspberry mousse too with sugar free jelly , raspberries and some cream blended. My raspberries are doing really well now.

Breakfast: hard boiled eggs chopped up with some crispy bacon and a teaspoon of mayo to moisten it a bit. Coffee.

Something small - maybe some yoghurt for a lunchtime snack to stop my stomach playing up.

2nd actual meal will be broccoli in tomato and cheese sauce.

Hands bad today. Particularly my right hand this time. Unfortunate because I am right handed. Just starting to feel sick now - too much breakfast, I expect.

Didn't bother with the yoghurt. The thought of trying to put something into my stomach was daunting, so I am just about to have a cup of black tea and leave it at that. With any luck I'll feel a bit more like eating by this evening.

@shelley262 I'm eager to hear if the cucumber was tasty! I just had another one with my lunch, I'm taking a chance on eggs again so it was egg salad today.

I had porridge for breakfast and will be having chicken with stir fried vegetables from the garden for tea.

When the sun behind the clouds it's lovely in the garden so I got a few jobs done earlier, and will do a few more this afternoon hopefully. Apparently it'll rain here tomorrow!

I have my eye on this mini cucumber as part of my salad lunch followed by a few raspberries, and the courgettes and tomatoes a few of the planned veggies for dinner with some steak.

I also have low carb baking plans as it's lovely and cool this morning and I have two hours of free electricity.

Sausage and beans for breakfast. Coffee.

Expecting a visit from a family moving to China on Tuesday. They'll be there at least 3 years so it may be the last time I'll see them. They both have jobs in an English language school there. So I've dug some cakes out of the freezer but shan't be partaking of them myself.

Later I'll have some more ham and salad.
