Reading this forum is very frustrating

It depends on what Monkeynuts definition of success means if you know what I mean.

 Just a comment on the employment side . . . I'm retired now, as are many of us Type 2s, but during my working life I have interviewed hundreds of people for jobs. I would have been very annoyed with anyone who had not mentioned having Type 1 diabetes, if not on their application form, then at least at interview. It wouldn't have made any difference to me as to whether I employed them or not. But I would have needed to know for medical emergency purposes. Really not fair to expect a full "duty of care" from your employer if s/he doesn't know what to do, or to say to an ambulance crew, in an emergency. Particularly when we were working in the middle of nowhere, sometimes with no mobile signal. The same goes for our many unpaid volunteers - it's a "need to know" matter.

As for those who ask about benefits - well, some may be work-shy; I think most are not. But if you'd been given an outline of your future by my "diabetic specialist" GP, you'd have been enquiring about funeral grants, not benefits!

These d****d smilies still insist on appearing at the head of the post! as demonstrated. Should be after my signature.

I'm going to blame my tools - the only reason I'm on this old PC is to transfer the files I need on to my new one - only I sort of got side-tracked . . . Must be the machine's fault .
