Change 1 small thing

I have that same pedometer - the Omron pictured above. I asked for it for Christmas. Only trouble is, mine does not reset at midnight, so my steps have been cumulative. LOL I went through the setup when I got it, but must have missed something. I have to get that instruction booklet out again. Great thread. I want to change one small thing today as well. Gotta think on that. ;)

Oh that's strange! I know mine does because I went to bed just after midnight on Saturday and I'd only done about 100 steps lol

Well im proud of myself I got to just over 5000 today, with the help of some wii just dance. Oooooo my arms ache! Must keep it up.

Woohoo! I'm only at 4800 at the moment. I didn't get on to just dance in the end as I was hanging new curtains. Assuming all break 5000 before bed in a couple hours

I was thinking that 10,000 steps was about average so was feeking a bit pathetic. But then today I read that the average steo count for most people is 3-4000 a day. So I feel pretty good. Aiming to do 4-5000 a day now.

Yeah 10,000 isn't realistic for most people with a desk job. If you're managing 4000-5000 that's a great start!

If I'm ever going to hit the 5000 for the day I need to get off the sofa haha

Andy did you order one?

I decided to make two changes, both of which will affect my overall attitude. I've been suffering from a lot of stress since November due to several awful things happening. I know stress can affect a person physically and I imagine it doesn't help the D, either.

So:
1. I am going to dance every day, for at least 20 minutes. I love music and love to blast it and dance around the house, especially while I am cleaning. I think it is a very fun way to get the body moving and improve one's mood at the same time.

2. I am going to smile at everyone I meet on the street and say, "Hi". Some people may think I'm nuts but I know older people really seem to appreciate it. It makes me feel good to greet strangers and give them a smile. I don't think people do that much anymore, like they did when I was a child. I know this one isn't physical or diet-related, but I think promoting an overall sense of well-being is important for health, too. :)

Fab things to change!

I've just hit my 5000 so can sleep easy tonight :)

I've got the free app, called s health, step counter, calculates calories within the 10.000 step target. It's free and I'm a cheap bloke.

I used one like that for a while, but one day it said I'd done 17000 and I realised it was counting my trips in the car since it worked by GPS!

Plus it drained my phone battery :(

I did this morning, I managed 51 steps before I went downstairs to the car.

51?!? I'm usually about 400-500 by the time I've left the house!

I wonder what I'm doing that's so different. Have you got your step length etc set right?

Its a very small flat and Im up and out within 30mins usually.

Yep I'm out within 30 minutes too (stay in bed as long as possible ;) )

Clearly in rubbing around like a mad woman in the mornings then!

Interesting to see what Andy's is like once he is able to play too!

I find that my low carb diet has given me more energy. I feel like superman. I'm more active in the evenings and happy to do stuff that is more active than watching tv. Just recently got a German shepherd pup whos growing to be a beast so night time walkies are no problem as far as safety is concerned. The dog has to be walked. Since going on low carb no sugar, I feel as tho my auto immune issues are sorting themselves out. My eyes and mouth are not as dry as before. My nose is actually manufacturing boggies that I've not had in years. Im not as tired in the mornings like I used to be. I'm climbing 7 flights of stairs 3 times a day instead of using a lift. I'm loving this diabetes cos I'm going to get my mind and body back in order. I'm sorry for those who's diabetes has got out of hand and difficult for them manage.
