Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

3.8 for me.

My averages appear to be reducing marginally again, even though I am increasing my carbs a bit. I have my fingers crossed that my body is waking up again, with my pancreas in play and insulin resistance significantly reduce.

How long has it taken to get the BG down? I feel like I'm failing!

You were 6.2 this morning! Nothing wrong with that at all. That equals my own average fasting.

5.9
But the sad thing is...Could be really be 4.72 or even 7.08
Because meters are stupid - +/- 20% in this day and age :¬)

I'd love to be 5 something!

Macus - you either have to accept this imperfection in our testing systems, or join the hordes of diabetics who work blind, not testing.

For a T2, you need to be concerned whether your readings are going up, down, remaining stable and are within range. Volunteering for an emotional roller-coaster will do you no good.

I wholly understand we like lower numbers and finite testing, but, like many other things, we can't always have what we want.

Yep thanks - I think I was just having a light hearted moment :¬) helped me accept it :¬)

I don't know if your question was general or to anyone in particular, but I'll respond anyway. :)

My readings were a bit erratic over the first, say, month, after diagnosis. I was preparing for a big trip, did long haul flights, stayed in an hotel for a week, then settling into our place over here, so I hadn't wrestled my diet into any real shape. Once I found this site and settled a bit, my scores came down fairly promptly, but I was very strict with myself. I reckoned if I was going to have pain, I'd get it over with, and get used to it as quickly as possible. That seems to have worked for me. Once in the swing of it, I have managed to tweak things from time to time, without too many dramas.

We're all different, and have different tolerances to what we can do diet and exercise wise, and how low carb we are willing to push ourselves. I'm also very fortunate to be pretty much stress free and happy at the moment, so I don't have those things working against me.

Stick with it. It will happen, if you keep up the good work.

It was a general question for everyone so thanks for answering.

I've been saintly since diagnosis. Most good scares me so I've been very strict and am a bit disappointed my fasting BG isn't improving.

I'll keep plodding on...

X

5.0 this morning after a day of no exercise

Oh my 5.4 this morning. I can at least put it down to the heavy protein meal last night.

4.7, continuing the trend started at the beginning of last week when I finally began the Newcastle Diet. That saw my fasting levels drop sharply from the 6s and 7s they had always been.

I'm now 10 days into it and have lost 12 lbs. Siren voices of friends, colleagues and family around me are suggesting "that's far too severe! Come on, you've got to eat something".

That's easier to resist than I thought, though - I just keep thinking how much better I feel, generally, and of the pains in my hands and feet, which disappeared on Day 2 of the diet and, so far, haven't been back.

It's early days, but so far it's been a remarkable turnaround.

that is excellent - keep it up. I never ever got the you must eat more than that stuff - just the "wows"
