It's all of it! It really did taste like the best pizza if ever had but it's only because I'd not had any big simple carbs for about a month.

I'm gonna try a cauliflower base to see if that's any good but I think I'd rather have the real stuff once a month.

We'll see. It's not worth getting sick over though that's for sure!

Once a month sounds good to me. I do the same with hubby's delicious steak, kidney and diced potato pie.

Have any of you been told like I have by my diabetes doctor from hospital if I drop below 5 and into the 4s I need to get some glucose down me as under 5 is dangerous for a diabetic? I went to see him Monday and was concerned my blood sugars were still anything from 8-12 but I got told by him that was a fantastic reading as a diabetic he said that he would expect ne to average what I am and usually only none diabetics would get readings of 7 or lower. He also told me if I did drop below 5 then their was a very good chance I would pass out due to having a hypo so to make sure if I got to anywhere in the 5 region to get my sugars up using anything with lots of sugar like lucazade. Just wondered cos a lot of you are saying you are down to 4 or 5s.

YES, I have. When my bg drops below 4 I feel unwell and dopey. At 2.5 I can barely function and can't wake in the morning. It's not good!

Eating and exercising my way from manic to moderate Miriam.... and a steady blood glucose.

Mine was 6.8!!!!

Record level today :-(

I wouldn't get too disheartened, as it's still possible you'll be able to do something about it.

Before I started the really low carbs 12 days ago (Newcastle Diet), mine was always in the high 6s or more usually the mid-7s. The interesting thing is that since I started to lose a significant amount of weight (13lbs in the last 12 days) although I've had a couple of lapses (some pints of beer last weekend and more carbs than I should have had at a pre-arranged (excuses, excuses ...) dinner party midweek, my fasting levels have gone right down, and they've stayed down.

They're now in the high 4s, including the mornings after those lapses. Daytime levels are significantly reduced as well but it's the early morning readings that have surprised me most.

Yesterday I didn't do a fasting test. I was on strike because my levels never vary by more than an odd tenth, average 6.2.

Decided to break my strike today and ....... I was 5.7! So glad I broke the strike!
Perhaps the anxiety of wondering what the reading will be raises your bg? You may have relaxed a little because you didn't test yesterday.

4.9 this morning. My first morning after my revised medication. I was on ordinary metformin 2 x 500mg per day. Now metformin sr 1 x 500mg per day.
I took my last of the old on Friday morning, forgot the evening one and didn't want to take one yesterday morning because I wanted a fairly clear sheet for my first slow release with my evening meal yesterday.

Happy so far but time will tell.

4.1 today.

Yesterday was a very sociable day, with 2 meals out, so happy enough with that.

Was there a lot of protein in the meal Miriamy? If so that could be the reason, but I'm no expert on this. Just trying to learn.

I find my levels really don't change overnight as I am not really using it up (goes down by about 1mmol). That is why I don't like to go to bed higher than 5.6 or eat late. I wonder if you see similar behaviour

Mine don't change very often either. In fact my 6 week average for fasting and bed time are identical at 6.2. I eat my last food (main meal) about 7 to 7-30pm and get up about 9 to 9-30 (OK I'm a good sleeper!) I'm beginning to think this is due to eating late, but there isn't much I can do about that. My lowest readings are always before my main evening meal, average 5.4.

***** Whilst here, I have a question of everyone. If you test twice or more for the same event, which reading do you record? Do you pick the best, do you average, or what? I've only done this a couple of times recently but think I should do it a bit more often as the ones I have done are significantly different. (and yes, I do wash and dry my hands meticulously)

I have only retested a few times when I got a wacky number or didn't believe the number. For the former I take the new. With the latter the first on confirmation.

5.1 for me - no excuse except I exercised shorty before bedtime and went to my pit with a level of 4 which puts my body on a slightly different cycle. Still within my 4.7 to 5.2 cycle I have
