Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Within a reasonable limit then. I have been scared to eat potatoes mostly, but last night I had a roast chicken leg (didn't eat skin), one medium sized roast potato, cauliflower, broccoli and gravy. After two hours my BG went down by 0.3. I will try that again and if it's the case again I can afford to have a roast spud now and again..yummy.
Hi,
Apologies to interject here - and by all means tell me to butt out if you already know this, or it's inappropriate.
I noticed you were saying that you were unsure how many roast spuds to eat - did you realise that if you've been exercising prior to eating (really needs to be over 30mins of exercise) you should be able to eat your spuds (or basically any carb) and not get a blood glucose rise?
When you exercise, your major muscle groups and liver use up some of their glycogen stores (that's how they store glucose). After you finish your exercise, you will find that when you eat carbs, you don't get the same rise - simply because your body wants to replenish these stocks and will use the easiest source of fuel to do this (so any carbohydrate that you consume).
Roast spuds sound like a pretty great excuse to exercise! Mmmmm!:)
You can find more info at www.teambloodglucose.com. Feel free to e-mail direct through the website if you have questions or need any particular advice or support - very happy to help.
Keep up the great work and apologies again for butting in to your conversation.

Still trying to get BG normalized here, after being diagnosed just two weeks ago.

This morning my reading was 10.1 after a 12.7 last night, when I ate roast chicken, courgettes, leek and mushroom for dinner (no spuds).

Seeing the DN on Thursday so we will see if she thinks I need more medication. :(

Regards,

Carol

Yay! 5.3 this morning, was getting fed up of 5.6 every day! Remembered ACV last night and had 5 almonds at 4 am (was up this early for another reason). Reading was taken at 8am.
Bebo321, love your tip about exercising before carbs, I'm going to try that, thanks!

Boo hoo. After a euphoric week in the 5's back to 6.2 this morning. :grumpy:
aw, did you do anything different yesterday bluetit? Don't worry, sure it's just a blip x

Hi
I don't know how legit this is or if it helps anyone, especially the prediabetics, but a doctor up at the hospital told me that he is never concerned about a FBG between 4-6. He said something out of that range would alert him to there being a potential problem.

On my blood results print outs, alongside the thing they are testing, it says what the normal band is. For fasting glucose it says 3 to 6.

Right! This doc was a bit laid back then lol. :)
