We all all amazing for doing this. We are making ourselves healthier and encouraging each other.
We may not be perfect but we are trying to get healthier and that is inspiring.

Yay for all of us. We are indeed amazing. Oh, and I am high on endorphins

Wow! Impressive!
Fart = speed
Lek= game
Sorry to spoil your fun. Personally I like farthinder (speed bump)!

Without this thread and all you lovely people I would still be dragging my feet at getting back into training. Thank you.

I will be fartleking through the pool too. Make lots of bubbles. Its all that cauliflower I blame.

I met a person from NICE today who informed me that NICE are updating the Diabetes guideline . She wasn't sure if the advice re csrbs for type 2 diabetics would change but advised that I contact
Diabetes UK and ask them, I have
just done that.
There may be no strong academic studies which show that reducing carbohydrate levels improve blood glucose levels or testing for diet controlled patients improving them either, there are a wealth of patient stories on here though and I know that following this along with increasing my activity levels has helped me to take control of diabetes rather than the other way round.

I think that the system moves too slowly. Meanwhile millions of us are not given the potential to reduce the chance of diabetic complications. I am sick of the same out of day advice to eat more carbs being constantly dished out.

Also, some academic researcher is missing an opportunity for at least a Doctorate in qualitative research from the information in the forum.

Well done, Jamrox for seizing an opportunity to influence someone from NICE. Don't know what in what capacity you have been attending the conference, but I am seriously impressed.

I follow LCHF. I have lost 2 stone 5lbs and my bs has halved. As you say, there are many more who have a similar story on this forum. The reality is that they could start their own study but the fact is that they don't want to. If we all got rid of the need for tablets by losing lots of weight and then maintained, just think about the profits of some of these medical companies..........

50 lengths of 18 metre pool breast stroke in 32 minutes. Fast running through water, treading water, star jumps, in deep water, 2 lengths front crawl, fast, 2 lengths back stroke. Then floating gently in the empty pool to recover, imagining I was in the sea, somewhere warm. Total time in water 45 mins. Definitely met the physio requirement to increase intensity.
Inspired completed exercise for day by modifying supermarket stroll with trolley into alternating 1 minute stroll with 1 minute fast walk. I remember this method from my fitter days running it is called, I kid you not, fartlek. Did this for ten minutes.

Yes I am exposing myself to your toilet humour comments on the supermarket stuff, but I am well chuffed with my efforts.

That's an impressive list of activities, must be doing so much good. Your physio should be very impressed!

Thats interesting Jamrox, you rox! I LCMF as it suits me better and there are so many of us who low carbing works for...my lower figures and that 4.3 yesterday was down to that I'm sure, as not seen that number for quite a while...

30 minute walk into the office pulling airline-style cabin case. Not climbing the stairs with that!

15 mins cleaning outside window frames- yuk!! 10 mins of Pipp's chair exercises whilst working on laptop- some manic knee stepping whilst waiting for pan to boil- whoever said " a watched pot never boils " was so right- then 10 mins so far on bike. I may also burn off lots of my lunch searching for the £ 400 quid mouth guard that should have been in a box in bedroom but isn't. Oops! It will be in a safe place, I just need to remember which safe place.

But cunningly I did the climb again at lunchtime sans bagages :cool:

Feeling better today although fasting bs 7.5 :( and 30 mins later 9.4!!!!!!! Before breakfast. Forgot testing kit but just got in and now normal 5.5! Got to take car to garage and we are walking home! 40 minutes of exercise! Yay! Having cup of tea whilst youngest giggly daughter and equally giggly friend play minecraft! Sigh!

A busy day of appointments. A lot of driving to get to them, so no meaningful exercise yet. Just checked pool timetable, and there is a one hour aquafit session tonight. Where's me cozzy?

:sorry: I am still not doing so well with the exercise. This morning I meant to go out for a walk and then went back to bed. I have lost Pedro again, I think he may have run away for good this time. My excuse is that hubby is still on holiday and my routine has been disrupted, but he did get me to help him lift heavy things to take to the tip, does that count for 5 minutes exercise? I will try to make the effort to do something/anything this evening, but am not too hopeful. So, it looks like you win again Pipp!

This is good. Increasing movement in lots of small ways, when and where possible. I march on the spot every time I put the kettle on.

Unfortunately patient experiences aren't measurable or quantifiable - any change to guidelines needs to be research based and therefore (frustratingly) patient opinions will not be taken into account.
Don't lose faith Jamrox, it will change for the better eventually, and in the meantime it's just a case of shouting it from the rooftops as much as we can.:playful:
