Worst guilty food secret

I cracked a few weeks ago. I was a short stay day patient in hospital, having a minor op. Afterwards the nurse brought me 2 slices of white toast. Afraid I just had to eat it. After all, I was in hospital. :)

I also admit to having a serving of home made steak, kidney and diced potato pie in a deep casserole dish, with a thin pastry topping. Hubby makes them, and if I didn't help him out he wouldn't make one just for himself. I don't want to deprive him. Problem is he makes one every Wednesday!

Too many to mention :)

XL Cheese crisps has to be one and a good butchers shop meat pie another.
Talking about pies, there's a bakers, where I get my low GI bread from, is two minutes from my front door and their meat and potato pies..............!!!

Better than any Greggs I bet, although they do a nice sausage roll, sometimes get one on a weekend if I'm out for a long walk with my dog and pass the door ;)

Well I got cocky and had two roast spuds with my meal tonight. They were only very small ones too but after 2 hours 7.8. That's my biggest 2 hr reading since I began testing weeks ago. :(

It's the smell of fresh baked pastry! I need to stop and watch the footsie!

Worth it though, and still just about "legal".

It's not something I will be doing again in a hurry though lol. I had two small potatoes last week and they were boiled. I was 6.5 after those!!

Strange. Roast potatoes are usually better because they are cooked in fat. I can manage 2, cooked in duck fat.

Have you tried goose fat? Back in the past, Sunday roast!!!!

Haven't tried goose or duck fat. These were coated in extra virgin olive oil. I had them cooked like that on purpose and I was only 4.9 pre meal. I think there's something wrong with my meter. I just took it again 2 and 3/4 hours post meal. It's 7.0 in one finger and 6.0 in another finger!

Were the boiled and roast pots identical weights? If not then this might explain the difference in postprandial bg readings.

Nosher with your name and you say we are food obsessed!!!

My one day is Cheesy Chips...and maybe a Dr Pepper but the CC are a must.

I didn't weigh them today or last week. They were small though...I'm talking an inch and half in length and about that in width. I picked the smallest ones in the bag...Jersey Royals. I did have gravy - non thickened. I had green beans and broccoli and two slices turkey breast.

Explanation- when I was a young strapping lad, my mum would do my carry out for work. It was placed in a Tupperware container. The nosh box was complimented by my work colleagues as a hell of a nosh box and it stuck!

Is it a little less guilty a thing to do when you are on meds for diabetes? ie. Being prediabetic I have to rely on diet alone.

Jersey Royals roasted???????????????????????????????? That is sacrilegious. They are for boiling and eating with a mound of butter. You need a softer spud for roasting.

The reason why I asked, when we make roast pots we tend to have them bigger than say baby small pots, as a type 1 I have to weight mine otherwise my postprandial bg readings are less predictable.
