well done, but you don't have to wait until you see the dietician before you eat healthily!

....... which you should then ignore

yes, unfortunately the NHS seems to be shackled to high carbs for whatever reason. When I was first diagnosed I had a 20 min slot with the diabetic nurse and she showed me a pie chart, pardon the pun, of a meal plate, the largest portion was carbs.! I hadn't visited this site at the time and accepted what she said. When I have my review with her I shall take her to task on the subject!

I went to the Docs today for repeat perscription, always take by bg meter with me, he checks it thru, asked me why I jumped so high one day.......... said it was because I had ice cream, pulled a face...... But he was happy with my results otherwise........ but he first asked had I eaten fruit, which was a no. He was please with my blood pressure and heart rate. asked what I ate, and said make sure that you have three meals a day. I was concerned about losing weight. he checked my levels, and said I had only lost about 4 kilos since my last weigh in, did not seem concerned. which must have been back in Jan.Feb

I have been following the forum for food intake, yes fall down sometimes but have good meals and have fruit but not often but eat most things.

Today I started the eat as much as you want low carb high fat malarky.
Eating right now as I type.

Nothing to worry about. He/she will just tell you to eat starchy carbs with every meal and take more exercise. Possibly tell you to eat more fruit.
Exactly! Saw my nurse practitioner last Monday to change my meds, went armed with my readings and told him I was strictly lchf - he said I need a portion of carbs with each meal, have a sandwich for lunch etc- I said no I prefer my salmon salad or prawns with cream cheese etc, considering I was getting average 7.2 I hrs post food by then, I tried 12g carbs that night and woke to 10.2!!! Never had a morning that high in the two weeks of lchf........last few days average 5's on waking!! Think WE know best??!
Just got an invite to two "education sessions" with dietician and diabetes nurse........seriously thinking of declining now!!

Not wishing to appear unco-operative I usually go on the appointments made for me and if I feel like it I take no notice of the bad advice. I am reminded of a scene from, I think, David Copperfieild. Uriah Heap has taken David home and in a chair is the Aged Parent who is obviously out of it.

Uriah says, "Just smile and nod your head Mr Copperfield, he likes that".

That's what I do at these appointments.

Well I got that spectacularly wrong. I just checked and it is Mr Wemmick in Great Expectations talking to Pip.

"Aged P doesn't want much. Wemmick says: "Nod away at him Mr Pip; that's what he likes. Nod away at him, if you please, like winking!"

Maybe some good tips http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf and beware you might get the carb flu, just increase water intake and take some extra salt and magnusium in the evneing.

I could suggest you save yourself a wasted visit and just do low-carbing. Let us know what the dietician says; they come up with some amazing stuff pity it doesn't usually help with diabetes and can make it worse

Had the carb flu or was it man flu , feel great today, apart from having to pay out for my wife's car grrrr

Diagnosed T2 4th July
