Maybe they have to do what the book says & not what life is indicating. Why don't they listen to the people who have the diseases and put two and two together? No time I suppose... like everyone these days it seems...

Yes I'd like to know what the book is like, as my wife has suffered with thyroid for over 20yrs now, she diagnosed herself in the begining as the so called Dr, just put everything down to her way of life, within 3 days of him testing her she was seeing a specialist & put on meds as she was very hyperthyroid, then she had another test a short while after starting the meds to see how things were doing & the dumbass Dr read the results wrong & changed one of her meds & boom that's when it all went **** up, (excuse the French) when she saw the specialist he went totally ape as what the Dr had done by doing what he did totally shocked her nervous system & he wrote & gave the Dr a good blasting. then she had the radioactive iodine & that knocked the thyroid out over time & is on thyroxine now, but the after the nervous system shock she has suffered ever since & life can be hell at time, so a good book on the subject maybe a great help as she can never seem to get the support she needs.I despair... my hair is falling again and my nails, after being the loveliest at Christmas that they've been for 15 years, suddenly crumbled again and my skin has gone from soft to dry, sucking up mountains of moisturizer with little result...I have sent for Janie Bowthorpe's book, Stop the Thyroid Madness... I will let you know what she says, if it is interesting.. I'm sure it will be...

I know that one, they always seem to try to keep you on the low side of normal when personnaly being on the higher side of normal would be better, the wife has a prob with weight as they keep here on the low side of norm.Yep, at Christmas, and even with my hair starting to fall and infected sinuses I was told my levels were 'balanced now'... to me they were appallingly low... Madness indeed... I have to stop taking Levothyroxine I think...
Sounds lovely. I may give that a whirl when my tongue returns to normal. No decaff in Costa today so I bought a green tea to go. It was so hot I scalded my tongue with the first sip.Tonight I made pineapple ice cream with blueberries. Easy. Little pot of pineapple chunks. Unsweetened. Hand full blueberries and double cream. Whiz in processor or with hand blender with 3 ice cubes...bliss. eat or freeze. Next to no carbs. Lush
Never heard of mushroom ketchup...sounds interesting. What's umami paste plsI've used umami paste, tom puree, mushroom ketchup and various herbs and spices.
Will use some pickle one day, and maybe a jerk or curry paste... (Not at the same time)
Sage must be lovely.
Ouch, that hurts all day when that happensSounds lovely. I may give that a whirl when my tongue returns to normal. No decaff in Costa today so I bought a green tea to go. It was so hot I scalded my tongue with the first sip.

If it's like the water they brew the tea with at the carvery I go to its steaming hot rather than boiling. Hope it's ok tomo.Couldn't believe how hot it was. Completiy killed the taste of the tea too.

@Susikav, how high was your cholesterol susikav? That's great you have no calcification on your bodyThey are indeed funny little creatures - I love mine to bits, but I loved all my dogs too... I miss them terribly still... I travel so much now it wouldn't be fair to have new ones at the moment - it takes me about 9 months to train a puppy - 24/7 and I couldn't do it, never mind leaving the poor wee thing with a maid when I am away.... It will have to wait till I finally retire in a year or two... I cannot wait...
I had a body-scan 5 years ago and had zero calcification, as I did when I had to have an angiogram 16 years ago, so, assuming that cholesterol causes calcification I can only imagine that my higher-than-the-doc-likes levels are normal for me and nothing to worry about... would that make sense? I have traditionally low blood-pressure which remains very normal for me... I have never been overweight by more than a couple of kilos and until I got to about 60 could more-or-less eat what I liked - apart from the stuff that upset my ulcerative colitis of course...Since low-carbing I have been very well, but now am worrying about my hypothyroid symptoms... blimey, does it ever end? I have just ordered Janie Bowthorpe's book, Stop the Thyroid Madness... I have spent 16 years trying to get it balanced and failing miserably so am looking forward to receiving my book from Amazon in a few days... I know from my own, and friends' experiences, that the medical profession consistently under-estimates the levels that people start to suffer at... The latest research linking hypothyroidism with diabetes 2 is very interesting too... I seem to have been a mess since I was 49...
This forum has improved me enormously! If it wasn't for Sable and Totto I would never have found Janie Bowthorpe's book and am seriously looking forward to reading it... Stop the Thyroid Madness indeed...
Sorry - wittering again...

Good morning folks!
Over the weekend, my food consisted of:
On Friday night a slow cooked beef thai red curry (added a dollop of peanut butter at the end which made it divine), with cauli rice.
Cooked breakfasts including a few beans without sauce and half slice of fried bread.
On Saturday night, a baked camembert and chorizo pieces dipped with avocado slices, lettuce wedges, cucumber, toms olives etc. Followed by topping only pizza. The baked camembert was lovely - it's new in ASDA, comes in a nice ceramic dish with a sachet of chorizo for £3.00 .
On Sunday had a slice of leftover pizza at lunch but went for long walk after. Sunday dinner was sausages, root mash and cabbage.
Desserts were sugar free jelly with cream. 1 glass of red wine on Saturday night.
Hope you all had a nice weekend of low carb loveliness
This morning had scrambled eggs and avocado for breakfast, with hot water and lemon. While having breakfast saw a great recipe on Lorraine. It's an egg and bacon tart, but I'm sure you could omit the breadcrumbs used in the recipe - will be trying this at the weekend! See below:

Mmmmm yummy
