People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
CCGs are issuing new guidance to GPs instructing them to carry out an urgent review of patients taking pregabalin following a High Court ruling.

The guidance – which NHS England said CCGs must send out to all GP practices by today – advises practices they should review all patients on long-term prescriptions of pregabalin for neuropathic pain and make sure any on a generic version of the drug are switched to the branded form Lyrica.

As diabetics have this for neuropatic pain best check with your GP's at some point.

This is all to do with the fact Pfizer owns a secondary uses patent on pregabalin so the changing of the prescription to Lyrica is one that is completely non-clinical and all about making the rich pharma companies richer and charging the NHS more. It makes me sick.

eta: the article in the post above explains it much better than me, we just posted at the same time!

So long as patients realise that they may be getting different drugs.....

We are always the last to know!! (Normally)

Litterbugs war mongers hate mongers propagandists.
I'm sure there's more.
I was put on Lyrica and lasted a day before returning them to the surgery.
I sat tranced out in the corner almost lifeless.
I'm a thinking talking creative type of person but that just vegetated me.
I was crashing into the furniture.
My doctore said you'll get used to it I replied no I won't.

I couldn't tolerate it at all .
Told my specialist to take it himself instead .

Have since swapped to the lowest dosage of another tablet .
This I can tolerate it is only a 5mg dose and suits me so much better .

In Germany doctors do not give patients with neuropathy such strong medication. I had neuropathy and the doctors put me on this ****.
I decided to try an antioxidant from Holland and barrett which the doctors in Germany give to their patients.
Vitamin B12 and Alpha Lipoic Acid. These two with lower blood sugars have changed my life. No more neuropathy.

I was the same....except I couldn't stand noise.... Even people talking! Wobbled all over the place trying to walk my dogs.

Winter!
I was put onto Pregabalin 4 years ago...it was hell on earth, I was hallucinating, I became aggressive and completely out of control...I ended up in hospital where my endocrinologist took them off me and put me onto Gabapentin - I have had no issues with side effects on that, I'm on the highest dose and it helps with pain, although I also have fentanyl psyches for other medical problems which probably help.

Hello Omni,
I am very interested in what you have said about Vit B12 and ALA. A close friend of mine has Diabetes related neuropathy and it would be great if these supplements helped him too. I have visited the H&B website and have seen 100mg tablets of ALA but do you take a separate B12 supplement too? Also what dose of each do you take?
As an aside, Lyrica is also widely prescribed for anxiety disorders, it is psychiatrists' drug of choice for anxiety for the last couple of years. I have had a life long problem with unexplained anxiety and I was on 300mg Lyrica daily for two and a half years. It drained me of all energy and did nothing at all for the anxiety.
Good luck and well done in conquering the neuropathy.

I take 100mg alpha lipoic twice per day with Complete B Complex

Keeping sugars as close to 7 also helps
