I wonder if you perhaps slightly mire than parboil them and drain well before cooking? I'm actually far better with the carvery roasties which have obvs been deep fat roasted (and therefore absolutely delicious) cos the cooking oils have seeped well into the spuds mmmmmm dunno abt coconut roasties tho ;) tastewise that is....

Yeah, coconut flavour roast potatoes doesn't sound right at all. I roast ours in butter and (cold pressed) rapeseed oil.

I will have supper tonight around 7PM and won't eat again until they feed me on the plane around 1PM, so that's 18 hours and is my current routine as am following advice to keep all meals within a 6-hour period. Apparently this keeps blood sugar to a minimum for the longest practical period in a day and so should aid an improvement in insulin sensitivity. My tum doesn't grumble that much - I just have this patient 'hollow' feeling :)
...yep, and when you're chilled and tired and need your bed that empty feeling gets really bad... nothing worse than an airport at midnight... I have started looking for a seafood bar - I find that some salmon roe with creme fraiche and onion, with no toast, keeps me going... especially if I have the glass of vodka to go with it... :) Then chew gum like mad of course... :)

Effectively managing my condition.

The slogan of a well known hardware retailer is: You can do it if you B&Q it.

I can do it if I low carb it
I can do it if eat to my metre
I can do it if I exercise a little
I can do it if I love my wife and children.
I can do it if I love my:
Eyes, Legs, Kidneys, Toes, Liver, Heart and not forgetting....I can do it if I love bedroom activities.

:-)

I have been fasting 18 hours a day for the last couple of weeks and only totaling 800 calories per day - do you mean fast 100%?

Yeup! Absolutely - just water. The only way to trigger very beneficial autophagy!

I performed my first one a couple of weeks ago. Managed well over 24 hours.

It was surprisingly easy - well, for me it was! :)

So busy reading everyone's morning scores I forgot to post mine! Doh!

6.8 mmol / L this morning. Went to bed on 7.5 in the early hours this morning.

More sleep and less Ibuprofen required.

I have it thrust upon me every now and again by my body and I feel great for about 4 months afterwards... but I seem to do three days of it usually.. it's not hard when you're ill... :) You don't want anything anyway... purging for a colonoscopy is the best way to do it... although extremely unpleasant... so much harder to make yourself do it I find - and I'm quite disciplined as a rule.... I keep finding reasons for putting it off till tomorrow... and tomorrow... but sitting on a plane, bored out of my brain is not the way for me.. I need to keep busy... spring-cleaning is good... :) Or running around like a loon on a really busy day... then have warm water, instead of room-temperature, when you slow down a bit... I add salt and a little sugar though... can't bear to wash all the electrolytes away...

If you're on insulin then you really shouldn't be having those sorts of Blood Glucose Levels - no matter what you eat!

Have you been on a course for insulin dosage - DAFNE I think.

I've never been on insulin so can't really advise properly but, your blood glucose readings are alarmingly high and I'm seriously concerned.

Have a good look around this forum and also the website it's run on. There is a wealth of trustworthy information here.

Most of all I'd suggest you take your recorded Blood Glucose Level readings to your Health Care Provider and ask for help.

On the positive side, your children. Have normal blood glucose readings! :D

Late on parade.
12.7 mmol/l fasting
1.0 mmol/l blood ketones
Urine test +1.00 for glycosuria
Take it my kidney problems need to settle to get back to my usual 6/7 mmol glucose fasting.
