Hi peony50 'twas on good Friday. All done and dusted or do I have to do another ten miler to work off my roast dinner later?

Oops! I must start looking at the dates of postings!

I am impressed by your running, and all others who also run. It is always something I have wished to do, even have dreams where I am running. However, not sure I am up to it. Even doing a five minute warm up in the gym over 10 years ago was embarrassing, the trainer had to take me outside and they ran about getting me water as I felt so ill. Five minutes on a stepper!

I will start walking though, and who knows where it will lead?

Enjoy your Sunday meal.

5.8 again this morning. Not bad considering jet lag and not getting back from a party until 2am. Only had about 6 hours sleep. But yesterday after a pre-lunch 5.9 there was an 8.6 two hours afterwards, although I did have some of the mango I brought home. Still more work to do. Back on the diet on Tuesday...

I started walking to lower blood glucose and get my body used to exercise as part of managing my diabetes after diagnosis. After my first follow up HbA1c I wanted to up the exercise and decided to move from brisk / very brisk walking to running. I did the NHS Choices couch to 5K (C25K) - it wasn't without it's challenges but, it was easier than I thought it would be.

I never ever thought I'd become a runner but, when I pulled a calf muscle and had to rest and repair I missed the running big time - which astounded me!

Give the C25K a go - it's a great way to get into running. Also, checkout Parkrun.

You can do it! :)

If you walk a mile a day end of the week you'll be 7 miles away.........

Yesterday's morning fasting 8.4 mmol / L from a pre bed of 8.9 mmol / L - not good! :(

Today's morning fasting 7.9 mmol / L from pre bed of 6.7 mmol / L - better but, at least 1 mmol / L too high.

Considering how to work on reducing these morning figures this week. **** my Tendonitis! :(

Steppers are the most ruthless punishment of all the gym machines ;). Try cross trainer next time....

Defo that mango ;)

Oh woe.... fasting 6.8 this morning which I can only blame on 3 times my normal ration of one piece of dark chocolate yesterday..:(

My husband had discovered 90% Lindt dark chocolate this week and got this instead of my normal 85%. However I like the taste better and it has only 1/2 the carbs per piece ( but sadly an extra 60 odd calories per bar. Blooming swings and roundabouts. :wideyed:

Back from Thailand yesterday mid-morning after 32 hours of traveling and 1of 3 flights that took over 14 hours from Singapore! Tested myself in the middle of the afternoon (remember I forgot to bring my meter with me!) and it was 6.3. This morning 5.8 and two hours after breakfast (sausage, bacon, eggs and mushrooms p;us half a guava brought back with me) and... 8.0). Not sure if that's OK or bad really all things considered. I trued my best to avoid carbs while away but Thai cooking probably has a lot of sugar in it. But avoided most noodles and rice and had no sweet drinks or ice cream, etc. I did have some of the local fresh fruit though (not quite ripe mangoes and guavas mainly, but not bananas). I did snack a lot on peanuts. I have put on about 4lbs in the 10 days I have been away and am hoping some of that is water, but I did manage to do about 2 miles of walking most days I was in Thailand. It's good to be back!

I spend a lot of time in the tropics, and can eat the local fruit, without event when here. It's lovely and fresh, and we tend to eat it when it's just getting ripe, rather than going over the edge. Like you, I pass on the bananas, even though we have a couple of banana palms in the garden. Looks like a bumper season for mango here, so further research into their impacts ina few weeks is my guess. :D

Your weight gain is likely to be at least partly water retention, from the flights. My weight always blip up for a day or so, post-travel, then disappears just as see lesson as it arrived.

Sounds like you did well on your travels.
