I've actually just had a Sainsburys Spinach and Ricotta Pizza and I smothered it in Jalapeños. Haven't had a pizza in ages and I absolutely loved it !
Everything is about moderation, common sense and knowing your own diabetes regardless of type.
I have been sticking needles in all parts of my body for well over 33 years and up to as yet I haven't gone blind, lost any limbs, haven't had any kidney or heart failure and I have worked all my life since the age of 16 and I'm now 47.
I am a human being first and foremost and second to that I also have diabetes.
I respect my diabetes (you have to with any chronic illness) and in return I treat myself every now and then. I will eat processed foods and the odd cream cake in moderation because it's good for me mentally !
Once I get to the stage where I go into a panic attack because I'm thinking about having half a twix the illness has won.
Common sense, moderation and non obsession are my keys !
And the odd chocolate éclair
As @Heathenlass said complications come from long term high BS levels. The odd dairylea triangle will not contribute to this.
Well I hope not !
The apple in my avatar is NOT the enemy. It's one of the most perfect foods on the planet if 1) eaten in moderation and 2) not GMO!!!!! I save fruit for my hypos. I don't eat candy or crackers or glucose tabs. No matter how low I go, I always treat a hypo with fresh fruit, not even juice! A good fruit for a bad hypo is an orange or a banana. Those hit you fast! I wouldn't eat an apple during a hypo, the fiber will slow it down; but in a pinch, I'd say even an apple is better than a candy bar! You don't want to risk giving yourself possible diabetes related complications from candy and crackers down the line, even when you have to save your life in the moment!!!!!![]()
