    Views on Probiotics.

Eh, In my opinion. Pro and prebiotic youghurts would be more useful as a suppository than as something to eat. As for the argument that it cures C.Diff. - Baloney. As an expriment, someone that had been diagnosed with C.Diff continued to take his probiotics, and another with the same illness...

Diabetics shouldn't be allowed to get married

Yes, OP, lets stop them breeding. (and by them, I mean us) Next on the list: people with cancer, heart problems, genetic respiratory disorders. As soon as someone is diagnosed with an illness, lets not treat them, make them better, inspire lifestyle changes etc, lets just sterilise them As...

    Diabetes symptom or?

Hello AddictedtoSugar why dont you try cutting down the sugar in your drinks and see what happens, and drinking diet coke/zero or diet pepsi/max. (or even drink water!) I found that before I was diagnosed, whenever I drank (which was ALL the time) it was almost like I hadn't had a drink for...

    Walking

Quoting myself here to update on the walking to/from work. I live 2.5 miles from where I work, (up and down a steep hill) and I've walked to work every day this week. I'm feeling fitter, my sugars are lower, an my jeans are looser. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. LOL

    Getting through Easter!

I was diagnosed at easter, so I'm used to not eating chocolate. My first easter as a diabetic, my mum took me shopping to cheer me up, a tradition that we've kept up.... poor bank balance. I have to say new trousers a size smaller than I normally wear made up for no eggs this year!

    Limbo Dancing Diabetes?

My lowest ever reading (that I managed to do myself) was 1.5, at work, to prove a point so I could go and have my lunch. My Highest was 24.5, the week before I was diagnosed. I've managed to stay between 4.0 and 15 (on high days and birthdays) ever since.

    Walking

Now that the mornings are getting lighter I think I shall start walking to/from work. I am in need of a kick up the bum with regards my exercise routine. I've been far too lethargic lately to do anything. I hope its nice on the way home from work later this morning....

    Vigorous Exercise Recommended

Thank You Beverly. I have been inspired to walk home from work when I finish, rather than get the bus (I live 2 miles from where I work.) Exercise starts here. :)

DO you too feel like ****?

Yes, thats me! I'm only on 500mg of Metformin MR, but I have so little energy at the moment, I felt so much better before. I was on Gliclazide 40mg and was active and running around like a mad thing, but that was stopped because I put on half a stone, but I've put on more than that since the...

    Conversation with GP!!!!

Gah! I appreciate how you all feel, sometimes I get annoyed with my DM team too! Oh, How I wish my exams would hurry up, then I could be a DM nurse to all of you! I'd make you all better!LOL I dont claim to be an expert, but at least I can empathise with the struggles of being a DM patient...

    doc or nurse

Nurses. IMHE Diabetic Nurses are better at sorting out minor (or even major) probs with DM control. They can even get GP's to prescribe meds for you. (My own DN is an Angel. Maybe a little biased here, LOL.)

    Hospital treatment

That seems bloody daft to me. Where I work, we encourage patients to look after their own medication, and if their BSL becomes too high, or they are DKA then they go on a sliding scale. We always give the patient a visit from the Diabetic specialist nurse (if appropriate) I cant say for the...

    Fish

I live on fish. Its the one thing I do eat that I can pretty much guarantee not to affect my BSl's I adore Sushi, and have experimented with making my own (fishfinger california rolls are not as nice as they sound) Saying that, I'm partial to the occaisional Sausage and Mash. Nowt wrong with...

    I hate the phrase......

I hate that phrase too. I feel its a lack of knowledge and education on the General Public's part. Whilst we are on the subject of phrases we hate, one of the most common things said to me when I was first diagnosed (bearing in mind I was 19...) "Oh, I know someone who died from Diabetes."...

    I'm new and scared!

To scare the Bejaysus out of you  In all seriousness, You may be showing the early stages of diabetes, and your GP wants you to change a few things to ensure you dont develop diabetes. Although, having read your list of symptoms, if you presented to my A&E I'd do a diabetes blood test...
