    Sugar too high?

I agree with all cugila said, although I eat a home made porridge for breakfast which my wife makes. Bread sends me high as does potatoes, but following a low GI diet and reducing the carb intake has worked for me. I do find that I need to eat little and often to keep on a good low level though...

    Sugar too high?

I've no test strips left so can't test but think my blood sugars are all wrong today. Worked yesterday morning so had normal breakfast, snacked for lunch then a stressfull afternoon shopping with my Grandkids, left meal too late so snacked again. Hardly had anything to drink all day and I have a...

    Containing the Low-Carb Debate

Accepted, I did take exception to it. Now I know it was only a bity of banter I feel a little foolish so will just make an excuse and say its been a long week and I'm tired having just finished work today  Maybe I should have taken my own advice and sat back and thought before replying...

    Containing the Low-Carb Debate

Personally I think your too leniant with people who cause grief. Get tough, either they play by the rules or they go! That way there can be no misunderstandings. Zero tolerance, and thats not said tongue in cheek either.

How important are regular meal times.

HR I would guess is personel dept, non existant at most palces  I know where you are coming from with the no breaks as I'm HGV and my boss thinks breaks waste his time. I've learnt to eat little and often and always on the move. I have snacks of fruit and nuts and also take crispbreads...

    Risk from pancreatitis

If its any help I had pancreatitis when I was 29/30 had my gaul bladder removed and was told I would develop diabetes as a result. It took nearly 20 years as I was diagnosed last year type 2.

    Footnote:

Mycota powder is good for the feet and reccomended and used by the Army if thats any help. I may well be wrong but I don't keep my feet soft as they blister too easily in my awfull issued work boots. I work in wet conditions but due to ridiculous elf and safety law can't wear wellies  I...

Noticeable effects on energy during exercise?

Well, you slow down with age, I'm very nearly 50 and can't run at half the pace that my Son of 26 runs yet I've run most of my life. The main thing is that you are taking exercise and its benefiting you. Keep that in mind and tell yourself you'll get fitter in time, It works for me and...

Noticeable effects on energy during exercise?

As for pace, I think you'll find most people exagerate the distance and underestimate the time taken. A chap who runs similar to me and lives across the road states my regular run takes him only half my time. He didn't like it when I laughed at him and pointed out that he was therefore running a...

    Insect bites

Citronella candles - cheaper from garden centres than outdoor shops help disperse insects and are relativley cheap. The only thing I know of that stops bites is any insect repellant with DEET in, the higher the concentrate the better. If you know anyone who is in the Army ask them for some as...

3 questions for the price of 1?

The medics like to keep your blood sugars up for some reason, probably like Hana said. My experinace was (I'm 49 btw) whilst in hosp was put on a glucose drip while under general aneshtetic to bring mine up. I was tested every few hours and had my Hb1ac done before (5.7) because I was low to...
