Anyone on Jardiamet Tablets to replace meteformin used in conjunction with Lantus

I have been on metformin / vildagliptin plus insulin for 10 years. I couldn’t understand why I’m taking so when offered Jardiamet to take it in conjunction with Novarapid and Lantus. I felt metformin was doing nothing why should I take it. Special authority required for Jardiamet HBA1C must be...

Anyone on Jardiamet Tablets to replace meteformin used in conjunction with Lantus

Hi everyone just swapped from metformin tablets to Jardiamet plus take Lantus and NovoRapid . Lantus was reduced from 76 u to 65 u resulting in going from 5.5 fasting blood sugars to 8.5 fasting blood sugars Is this normal? I’ve ended up topping up with Nova Rapid to be able to reduce the high...

    Trip to Mumbai

Don't be worried there's lots of info on travelling with medications. I'm on 2 lots of insulin I struggle with time zones sorting out insulin but have my travelling gear with insulin sorted. What I've worked out is avoid dehydration as it affects your BS. If you keep up your fluids shouldn't...

    New to Insulin

We have all been there. We work so hard and there comes a point when results don't match effort put in you can get fatigued. I have a good GP she is patient and is one step ahead of me. I'm still getting used to both long acting and short acting insulin. Just when I think I have got it sorted...

    Back pain/Metformin

Statin doses have a known side effect for memory loss. If your GP reduces your statin dose you should notice a difference. I was lucky my GP reduced it because of my stroke. Can also try different statin products. They are very reluctant to take you off it if complications occur

    Spare Meters

I needed to use that spare meter when I unfortunately left my diabetic kit at work 1 hr away. Luckily I had another kit back up at home and insulin syringes and needles. I hope that doesn't happen too often. I was shattered that day. Very scary. Won't tell my GP.

    Rebelling - but why?

Great advice from Pavlov. We all go through it and continue to rebel. Important to do baby steps. I have needle phobia . I struggle each day to give myself insulin at tea time and bedtime even though the needle is small. I focus on living and trying to get control of my life now complicated...

    Spare Meters

I have a Care Sens N meter plus carry a spare one plus spare batteries. I tend to cover all bases when I am overseas but at home tend to rely on my diabetic kit (all gear in one place). Nobody has been able to tell me what to look for if battery is low

Do antiseptic wipes make a difference?

Agree the other issue might be different fingers I know my index one gives a slightly different reading. You will know when it's a good reading and a reading that's not correct

    Annual review

Annual reviews I find them difficult because I have a better rapport with my GP than the diabetic nurses. Gp said the review is for you. It doesn't do much for me. The last diabetic nurse I didn't get on with. This time a different diabetic nurse . She surprised me asked the right questions on...

Whats the most important thing you have learned along the way of your Type2?

It's not a walk in the park. You can do everything right but your body doesn't always reflect the hard work put in eg blood sugars and HA1c results. Understanding what triggers and what to do when sugars not so hot is important. Plus medical people's advice is not always as helpful as this...

    Exercise Blood Sugars and Insulin

GP asked me if I know about impact of sugars when exercising. She said blood sugars don't drop straight away but should continue to drop. My biggest fear is a hypo. I want to increase my stamina and sort out some knee injuries before I head out on my holiday. Do I need to watch for dehydration...
