    Getting it right!?

I had my blood test a couple of days ago ready for my three monthly visit to the diabetes nurse and was surprised the next day to get a call from a doctor at our surgery saying my control was "too good" and telling me to drop my insulin from 28 to 20 units a day. This sounds good as I have...

    Driving and diabetes

My sister in law has recently been diagnosed with T2; she cannot take Metformin for some reason so her nurse has told her they may put her on a low dose of Insulin but not to worry as it won't be a high enough dose to have to tell DVLA. Is their such a limit, I have always assumed if you take...

HI Ali, Yes I am on Insulin - 30 units of Humulin 1 at 4 pm daily. Completely off topic but how do you get your meds to show after your posts; I have filled mine in on my profile but they don't appear to me?

    Breakfast

Thanks guys, not really what I wanted to hear but I am sure good advice which I ought to heed. I cannot afford bacon and eggs every day much as I would like to and the yoghurts are also a bit costly for me (a poor pensioner!!!) Do you think maybe one slice of toast and bovril would be OK; I...

    safe driving level?

Thanks Ali, maybe I should have made clear that what I read only applies if you are on insulin. Also what would the DVLA do if you said you haven't got ?can't afford a meter?

    Breakfast

I have tried just about every ceral there is and am currently having 50mg of Muesli for breakfast; it is the ASDA special(!) so cheap there is hardly any noticeable fruit in it. It has 35.1gm of carbohydrate in 50gm and there is 8.2gm of sugar in that. My problem is my bloods stilll rise...

    safe driving level?

I have been reading online about the new DVLA regulations when renewing a time restricted licence; mine runs out in December after 3 years and I am worried about some of it - has anyone on here been subject to this new requirement yet and if so how did they get on. The thing hat concerns me...

    retinopathy misdiagnosis!!

I can sympathise here. My annual sight check for the last two years has reported that I have slight retinopathy but when I go to the opticians for an eye test I have told him this but he says there is nothing in either eye. Who do you believe is a question I have asked myself for the last two...

    Type 2 Sleeping

Thanks for the answers. My last drink as such is 3pm when I have a coffee (strong and black). After that have a small glass of water with tea about 5pm then during the evening I drink a pint of water - maybe I should cut that down and see if it makes a difference. As a matter of interest I...

    Type 2 Sleeping

Hi, For as long as I can recall I have always had to get up at the most every 3 hours or so in the night to urinate; however last night I slept for over 9 hours without waking once and was not even that desperate when I did get up. In the last couple of weeks I have noticed that very...

Thanks guys, I take aboard all your comments and will carry on recording as long as I can, I only managed the last week as I have been saving some strips each month and built up a reserve. Below is an excerpt from the Diabetes type 2 information booklet issued by the Norfolk and Norwich...

Worried about high blood sugar levels

Hi Again, I have been keeping a detailed record of my meals and sugars before and 2 hours after them for the last week and have attached it as a JPG. Would you be good enough to coment on it, and please be frank, mind you I know you will. You did say to cut out bread but I seem to be OK with...

Worried about high blood sugar levels

Thanks for that - she is not joining in with portion control or counting carbs, it is a shame as she could do with doing it, her BMI is about 34-35 and she admits she is technically obese but says she enjoys her food and will continue to eat as and when she wants to; I have tried to get her to...

Worried about high blood sugar levels

I am keeping the results on a spreadsheet and will load it up for your comments in a few days time. One thing I will...
