Dr Phillip Lee MP - Try Engaging Brain

For anyone thinking of writing to Dr Lee, I have posted my letter at this thread in case it is of use: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35416 I took the opportunity to plug DCUK because I have learned so much from here versus the NHS. So thank you guys!

Letter to Dr Phillip Lee MP

Definitely an achievement!   That's the sort of thing I needed to hear from the NHS when I was first diagnosed - people can and do survive this. Instead, they gave me a leaflet telling me to eat a normal "healthy" diet. And one from DUK that scared the life out of me...

Letter to Dr Phillip Lee MP

Thanks. No, I don't expect a reply either. I'm not one of his constituents. I did copy my MP in the hope he might raise it with him. I also got in contact with the Diabetes help group in Bracknell suggesting they might want to raise it with their MP. He is obliged to answer them and they...

Letter to Dr Phillip Lee MP

When I got up this morning I was still feeling angry about Dr Phillip Lee,MP and his recent comments. So I sent the following to him and copied my MP. Feeling better now! I doubt I'll get a reply but will post it if I do. Dear Dr Lee, MP, I was horrified by your recent comments regarding...

    What is going on?

Completely agree. I have found it a very valuable source of information over the last few months since diagnosis. And I have only ever had helpful, informative replies.

    Is anyone...

I, too, have been shocked by what has been going on. I do not understand the background or what has actually sparked it all but to read all the posts of people getting banned and arguments etc. makes me sad. This forum has been so helpful to me and so many others. I just hope everyone can...

    Sad

I, too, am very surprised. Two in particular I have found to be extremely helpful and informative. Don't know what happened to cause this but one month ban sounds extreme. They might never come back which would be a real loss for the forum. :(

    Normal Life? or anywhere near.

I too had no symptoms and felt perfectly healthy when diagnosed in June this year. I had been trying for years to lose a bit of weight as I was a little overwieght but have now managed to lose 2 stone thanks to diabetes. Well in truth it is thanks to this forum. The first few weeks after...

    Now I'm disgusted

How pathetic. What a load of :silent: One day it will all turn - the truth has a way of coming out...eventually. Well done for trying!

My visit to the Diabetes Nurse

The DN was very good in that she did listen to what I had to say and was genuinely interested. She did not try to force me to move to the HCLF diet although that was obviously what was at the back of her mind. I think it shows the benefit of having the data to back up the success- with the...

To Drink or not to Drink, that's the ?

Personally, I drink loads of peppermint tea. It's delicious and really quick to make!

    Today's Low Carb Baking

My next challenge is to see if I can turn this into a birthday cake for myself! I am wondering if I can make icing somehow with Splenda. Need to have a go. The other thing I noticed is that the cake is quite crumbly. Not a problem with the taste at all but makes it a little difficult to...

    Today's Low Carb Baking

There is so little coconut flour, I wonder if it would be fine without it. It's 50g compared with 400g ground almond (i.e. 1/8th). Perhaps try it with 450g ground almond? The other thing I've come across is 'gluten flour' which is what I use in my pizzas. That is relatively low carb as I...

    Today's Low Carb Baking

I should add that it's quite a large cake. Which is good because I can't stop the rest of the family from eating it! And it's delicious with double cream.
