Hi. Only have a score of 6 mmol/L so I guess it’s good news. Got a letter from the GP otherwise they have been little help. Phone engaged... Anyway, I’ve read a lot of posts and I’ve changed my diet, reducing carbs, cutting out cakes, biscuits, chocolates...
I am slim, 68kg 175 cm , don’t smoke, drink and do lots of exercise.
I bought a BS monitor but it gives me low readings:
3 Fasting levels have come out “low” I guess this is wrong as I’d be dead or unconscious, “low” is under 1.1 mmol/L. I feel fine. 2 hrs after food it is still only 6.6 and 5.7 so far.
Am I panicking over nothing or does the machine need calibrating or something.

Thanks

What meter are you using and are your strips in date?

If you can get to a chemist, you can ask them for a test. Compare it with your own meter.

Had a fasting one of 5% this morning and an hr after lunch 8%. It seems to need a certain amount of blood, too little and it doesn’t work properly

Giving a bad reading when trying to use too little blood instead of reporting an error, is a serious problem in my view.
A rise from 5 to 8 is too high for a reading 2hrs after, but it's probably OK since you tested after only 1hr.
