Hi, I'm type 2, (diet and medication controlled) diagnosed just under a year ago. My doctor doesn't believe in giving type 2s a test meter, however I'm interested in having one so I can monitor the effects different foods have on me. I'm struggling to choose though, so much choice, and I keep being drawn towards the ones that I like the physical look of the most (instead of which one(s) would suit my lifestyle better). So I'm after some advice.
Main reason for having it is so I can monitor effects different foods have on me, to work towards keeping my blood sugars level.
I travel a bit, so I'd prefer one that's fairly portable.
I'm not good with pain, so one that causes less pain would be best.
I've not seen any of the software that comes with some of them, but I think I'd like one that comes with software, so I can track progress.
Cost - one that's cheaper to get test strips/lancets for (I have access to Costco, so need to check which brands they stock).
What would you recommend?
