Hi @Jen j and welcome to the forum. It might help to let us all know what your diet is like, and whether you test your blood glucose to give experienced and successful members such as @JoKalsbeek @Rachox and @KennyA some idea of what action you might take. There are many other Type 2s who have managed to achieve remission through diet management. I hope you receive helpful advice before long.

Thanks for the tag @Grant_Vicat . Hi @Jen j and welcome to the forum. You have come to the right place for info and support. Many of us have kept our blood sugars at normal levels with minimal or no drugs but being very careful with our carbohydrate intake. Personally I take a small dose of Rybelsus and eat no more than 40g of carbs per day. My blood sugars are normal and my HbA1c are always in the 30s.
When first diagnosed I lost a shed load of weight by counting carbs never calories.
@JoKalsbeek ‘s blog is very helpful, have a read here:

Well, denial kind of ended when you decided to come on here and ask for help. It's a pretty important first step. As @Rachox already shared the Thingy, I'll just add this: You decide how you want to do this. If you want to change your diet some (no hunger, just switching carbs out for fats and protein, so you still feel full and get all the nutrients you need), or adjust meds... It's entirely up to you. But if you've been diabetic for 8 years and still fairly high in spite of treatment, you're likely not to feel too great... Better control could well mean feeling better, physically and mentally, as high blood glucose can affect us in all sorts of ways.

Things could well be getting better for you, soon. Denial isn't doing you any favours, the opposite could well do.
Hugs,
Jo

Hi. you can make decisions about what you want to do - you don't necessarily have to follow what your doc or any of us advise. Your choice. I'd suggest being clear with yourself about what it is that you want to achieve, and what you're prepared to do to get there.

For example - my priority on diagnosis was to get rid of the set of nasty diabetic symptoms I had. That meant reducing my blood glucose. That meant completely restructuring what I ate. I thought about using medication, and decided I'd go with diet only - which for me was a big drop to around 20-25g carb/day.

It worked, and not only did my BG come down to normal quite quickly and the symptoms went, but I later lost a considerable amount of weight. If it hadn't worked, I was prepared to try something else. And I only set off down the low carb route because I knew (or I thought I did) that I could do it.

I'm not going to say that you should go to 20g/day, because it isn't for everyone and you need to find the thing that works for you. Have you read the "Success Stories" part of the forum? Lots of examples of different ways to get to the same outcome.

Best of luck. Asking questions on here is free and encouraged.

I am seeing the diabetic nurse on Thursday hopefully I can get some help . I have only just started feeling symptoms lately, but that is as the level has gone up . Thanks for all your support. Maybe I need a bit of both get diet sorted out and another tablet to help out . Thanks
