What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.9 this morning.

A really good day catching up with amending lesson plans.

We hit a problem with Outlook on Mr K 's PC but it wouldn't allow me to change the settings. After struggling to sort it we turned in desperation to Chatgpt. It was brilliant and we were able to sort it in 5 minutes.

HBa1c result back. It was 56 - up from 48. However, the nurse said that was just the way they want it for somebody my age. My age! Anyone would think I was old. And I can't see why I should expect a higher reading because of my age - surely the lower the better (within reason). I know they think I may have hypos if I keep BG as low as I want, but they're thinking of the "average" 80 year old T2. I'm not average in anyone's book and in any case Libre warns of lows coming up in time to take evasive action.

It's also because high BG takes a long time to do damage.
A 10 year old with an hba1c of 56 may have another 80 years of slow damage if their BG stays the same but it's not expected you'll live to be 160 years old, so less time for damage.
Falling risk is real as well, so avoiding hypos (which are a falling risk) isn't a bad thing in general.

That said, I think you've been doing amazing during the past few years since you decided to take control of your diabetes yourself!
It's a shame your diabetes nurse won't acknowledge your efforts and the results.

FBG was around 5.8 with a short drop caused by a quick swim in the snow (no ice), and then back up into the 6's, for which I took some insulin.

Been using for a while...agree, it's just so helpful.

Had a new watch
Microscopic instructions manual.
Photo'd, expanded ...took ages trying to get it to change to London time.

Gave up
Gemini to the rescue
A simple a b c diagram, WITH the button press I missed out.... :banghead:

Job, jobbed, as they say.

Gonna be in tears if they ever monetise even the basic level... :arghh:

And a dreary 7.1 this am
Ho hum....

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning all. FBS this morning was 12.1. I am now testing 4x/day in preparation for my appointment on Friday morning with the diabetes team. I am in the process of taking Esometrazole and Gaviscon for gastic reflux. Also having to eat bland things which means foods that don't suit my blood sugars! There have been several stressful things already this month which are also probably not helping. On 1st I found out that my colleague who I worked closely with for many years had died suddenly in January. It was such a shock as we'd exchanged Christmas cards since our retirements including the Christmas just gone and all was well then. The funeral is on 26th. It was my lovely mum's memorial on the 8th, dear Mother in laws on the 13th, a dear aunty's on the 14th, Mother in laws birthday on 15th and Father in law's birthday today. Our formal 3x/ week group walks have been rescheduled so we can only go twice/ week now including one we have continued informally with some of the group members. I have been checking in every day to see how you are all getting along. It has been very difficult not being allowed to respond with support etc other than with symbols but know that I wish you all well. :)

I think as long as you include your FBG you can respond to other messages properly :) My fbg this morning was 6.2 .

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen again, don’t ask!

Blood sugars were 8.7 this morning.

Life is strange and humour is a subjective subject topic in this age.

Now I must finish this posting and continue with my life, but will apologise for brevity of this posting, Mrs J and tasks, I hope you understand.

Stay safe and stay warm. I shall smile at I know not what!

I agree @jjraak that hopefully they don't monetise it as it is so helpful.

When the diabetes nurse gave me my HBa1c result, she also said that my cholesterol level was up a bit. It has been spot on for ages now which is why I was taken off Simvastatin a couple of years back, so it was noticeable but nothing to worry about just now. It has occurred to me that cholesterol has only risen since I started eating more veg, a bit more carb and less meat/fish/dairy products. That's a bit odd. Of course, it all might be a bit skewed by my recent illness - whatever that was. I'll have to keep an eye on it though.

Good morning everyone on a so far, so good start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.8 this a.m. on the gom jabbar of truth, lies and giggles.
On a fun packed day today we have, in no particular order:
SATs practice homework.
Swimming baths.
The strange yet exciting Diabetic Eye Slit lamp Clinic.
Roy Orbison impersonations.
Video call to my mother.
Dinner prep.
Farewell to the grandchildren.
Names and locations have been changed to confuse the author.
Hope your day is in lockstep with the transit of any sunshine. Life is a banquette but don’t snatch just because something takes your fancy. And don’t forget to help with the clearing up.
But first, some kofee.

5.6 at 04.45 today. Very shuggley so, after taking painkillers, sat in the chair and went back to sleep until 08.30 when Neil surfaced and woke me up.

Looking for a space in a drawer for a new gadget, I had to sort through the chosen drawer and found lots of kitchen things I don't need - recycle bag, charity box, bin and hey presto! space for the new gadget.
