What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from quite a dull start here in L.A. where my Fbg was 4.7 and is now - 10.34 - 4.9. I didn't intend to continue using Libre immediately after this one but I need to repeat some of the "experiments" because the results have been frankly difficult to trust. Very pleasing but difficult to trust. Yesterday's shocker was a jam and cream scone - this is not just a scone variety. Produced a rise of .2 after two hours ( 4.7 to 4.9) with a peak of 5.7 at 1 hour. I did have CWC (coffee with cream) with the scone as I know that keeps my bg flat. Protein (seeded) sourdough toast - ?sourfaux but no yeast in Jason's ingredients - also topped out at 5.9 with a .1 rise at 2 hours. I will be interested in the repeat experiments. The nice young lady who delivered our groceries on Sunday virtually gave JKP her life story but definitely enjoys her job. There may be an O just for you but probably not her. Interesting to read of the toothpaste issues @Annb . @dunelm enjoy the environment, time with your mother, French food and almost certainly wine. Enjoy Tuesday wherever possible.

Good morning everyone on a wonderful sunny start to the day here at my mother’s house in France.
No idea what my blood sugars are as my finger jabber is on holiday in the top drawer of what now haughtily identifies as a bureau in the corner of our bedroom.

I am now an hour in the future so already I have taken rubbish sacks down to the collection point and then up to a boulangerie to get a boulle of decent bread for when a couple of mum’s pals descend for afternoon tea and gossip.

Most of the roads here are now clear of flood water and the clean up is well in hand. The park however is still knee deep in water as demonstrated by a couple of tall park workers in waders yesterday afternoon. Also the flood plains up river will take some time to return the lakes of water back into the river.

Hope you can decide to have a good day. We are getting mum’s scooter out and going out to make some vitamin D.
Sounds glorious.

Have a great time.
Enjoy the family moments

And pics of froggie France would be delightful, if you'd be so kind, Monsieur.

10.3 at 02.10 today. (11.8 when I went to bed at 24.15). After painkillers, breakfast, insulin and more pills, it is down to 5.3.

I really should get on with sorting out my bedroom today, but will I? Maybe after I have a little doze in the big chair. Can't keep my eyes open. 1772609138123.png

I think I would go for a little doze in the big chair @Annb.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who played hopscotch when they were young and maybe still do.

Blood sugars this morning are right now 8.2

Unfortunately I’ve been put on a course of antibiotics Flucloxacillin, now I’ve been on these before and I’ve found that my blood sugars are difficult to control. Never mind I just roll with the punches.

Mrs J is totally exhausted, and went to bed at 8:00pm last night and is still asleep now 9:01am, it was inevitable having to care for me.
Therefore I’m in charge. I mustn’t let this unaccustomed power go to my head, now where shall I start…….

Morning all from a sunny intervals and a gentle breeze L.A. where my fbg seems to have been 4.7. Yesterday's experiments suggest that a Protein sourdough sandwich doesn't spook my bg too much: a .8 rise at the peak and .1 at 2 hours (5.4 to 5.5) I tired some oven chips as the JKP tipped too many into the air fryer but they took my bg to the dizzy heights of 6.4 - oh well. I may try a banana again today before they become like snozzcumber, with CWC obviously. @Annb I hope the big chair gives you a good sleep. @alf_Josiah hug for yourself due to the need for antibiotics and for Mrs A J for the tiredness - I know that effect well. I am sitting here with the dogs sleeping at my feet listening to a playlist I like in the morning - Stormzy ( BBYG, not Glasto) next Peace be with you all.

@ianpspurs thanks for nice comments, now sorry but could you please enlighten me as to what BBYG is.
Thanks and I hope is going well in little America
Thank you Alf. Life seems quite calm here in L.A. at the moment. I have sent you a PM explaining what BBYG means rather than post the link of Stormzy in action here. If anyone else wants to see what that refers to ask and I will PM or post here.

Thank you Ian. Unfortunately today has brought a setback, Son2 had another collapse while the surgeon was discussing the heart biopsy. So he is back into bed. More investigating and monitoring. Great disappointment all round.
Of course we were told to expect setbacks, but it's hard when it happens
Since then Son2 has continued to mystified the doctors. After an international conference e it was decided a PET scan might offer an alternative to the heart biopsy, so Son2 had a trip to another hospital for the PET scan, which he found exhausting. Preliminary results showed no inflammation except in his heart, so a heart biopsy was scheduled and completed the next day. However there were some worrying side effects possibly from the anaesthetic, there were a few incidences of confusion and slurring, which of course, led to more tests. This time checking for possible stroke. All clear, but an MRI scan on his brain ordered, just in case.
More tests, now looking for possible genetic abnormalities.
Mum and I were finally able to visit yesterday, so we were there when a technician added air to make frothy blood and then we all watched an ultrasound image of the frothy blood circulating through his heart. We were watching to see if any bubbles escaped into the other chamber of his heart. Fascinating. Once again, no abnormalities detected. So another possible cause of the original incident ruled out.
It seems the consultant is resigned to leaving the mystery unsolved and the current plan is to insert an ICD which should deliver a shock to the heart if it stops again. This will be Monday or Tuesday. All being well Son2 might be home in about ten days .

Lots of uncertainty but thorough investigation. This must have been very stressful for all concerned so hugs all round. The footballer Christian Eriksen had an ICD fitted and played top level football afterwards so the future looks hopeful. Thoughts and prayers for you all. Take care.

Was really pleased to see a 5.0 on the meter this morning.
I was really hungrele

Very interesting experiments with food @ianpspurs

Your son's doctors have been so thorough in their investigations @SlimLizzy
Really good news that they are inserting an ICD.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman and those who climbed trees when younger and still want to.

Blood sugars were 8.5, what they are now eye no not and don’t care.

Today is a social day, Mrs J and me, me’s and myself are meeting people, I’m expecting to get told off, just for being me and knot what other people expect me to bee.

I suppose I’d better go and was behind my ears.

Stay safe all, smile at a stranger, you just know it makes sense.

Morning all from a sunny L.A. where there seems to be less activity than usual from "the base" ... hmm. My fbg was 4.8 today. This sensor ends in 4 days then I shall apply the new one as I do wonder about this one. Fbg is in line with all previous ones but some foods have shown results on the low side of what I expected. However, I have either avoided the foods I have experimented with, particularly bananas, eaten very small amounts of others or had cheat times. Famously, I cut and weighed 12 gms of birthday cake - at the table - so my granddaughter saw me eat her birthday cake. I really want the banana and seeded protein sourdough to show exactly the same results with the next sensor. @Annb I hope the "leggy thing" ™ goes well. @alf_Josiah what can I say? If possible enjoy the sun but wrap up as March has cruel winds. Spring doesn't start until my late mum's birthday on March 21st as I was told many times. Peace be with you.
