What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.9 today at 02.00. Got to bed at 23.30 and did get to sleep fairly quickly, so that gave me just a bit less than 21/2 hours in bed. Slept again in the chair after taking painkillers.

Is anyone else having trouble getting into the Diabetes UK website/forums? Or is it just my internet connection?

Morning all from a bright and breezy ...... L.A. on Monday, Monday. Fbg today was 4.6 according to the wonder wheel. As part of my attempt to evaluate the impact of, in this case, forbidden fruits I tried a smallish banana yesterday. The line of doom stayed steady - started at 4.3 and ended at 4.7. I shall try more since I have really missed bananas. Yesterday's was too ripe for me, I was trying to encourage MIL to eat one so we had 1 each. I prefer mine just as they change from green and rock hard to yellow but not soft/"squidgy". Sourdough toast also produced a rise of less than 2 (1.5) over 2 hours but ended at 5.9 - not really what I want but not frightening. I too have wondered how Lamont and Mrs L have been doing. @Krystyna23040 hugs for Bonnie, I remember how our chaps felt sorry for themselves after their "events". We won't talk about the NLD, all football talk shall be around Cambridge Utd. Do take care - decompress seems to be trending.

Good afternoon or as some said after morning Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars were 7.3 then a bit later rose, no not the flower, to 8.? something, I can’t remember, nor care.

Yes Lamont D, I hope all is well with him and his family.

On Mrs J’s behalf I shall pass on her thanks to all who commented.

February is fast running out of days, some days are better than others and I like the days when I escape the confines of Tilehurst Towers.
Not being able to drive, apart from Mrs J mad , escaping is a luxury.
Talking of Mrs J who is busily doing the household accounts and very shortly going to present me with a bill while smiling .

It is time for me to sign out, remember every cloud has a silver lining, find it and nick it.

Roll on the days when I can ride my motorcycle to some distant cafe or pub, sit quietly while munching on a bacon sarnie and slurping koffy.

My son had the great good sense to collapse in the company of trained first aiders and right outside the sports centre where there was a defibrillator immediately available. Even so it took three attempts to get his heart beating again.
Multiple tests over subsequent days
The doctors called him a mystery patient.
Even now they don't know what caused the original stoppage. Not ideal. Would have much preferred a definite cause and well known plan for recovery.
I agree that it would have been preferable to have had a definitely cause. Hopefully the doctors will do more investigating
.

Bonnie did feel sorry for herself but she now seems quite happy.

It has really helped having the surgical vest thingy. Much better than a cone.

Good afternoon/ early evening. fbs was 10.1. I finally got my appointment with the specialist diabetes team. The nurse spent 90 minutes with me asking lots of questions and examining my home test results that I'd done 4x//day for several days as requested. I also took the results I'd recorded for my GP in October. She looked at my test kit, told me it was old, that they didn't have those anymore and that my results may not be accurate. She said she would post a better device to me and asked me to apply for the trial of Freestyle Libre 2. I have attempted to do this several times but having filled in all my details it won't accept my postcode. Although they filled in the country as GB it asked for the correct format of my "zip code" which is USA! I'll try again later. She also suggested changes to my medication regime. If I do manage to obtain the freestyle Libre she asked for the results to be shared with the service. The next possible stage is insulin injections if the new meter results do not improve. Best wishes to all for the week ahead. :)

I hear the yearning for the open road, mate.

At least you have hope of returning, if that gives some comfort..

Blimey, that a full on read of things I did last week.

Fair play you .

Just check you're not living near @ianpspurs out there in LA land ...

Thank you for the link@Lakeslover. I was on the UK site yesterday but it just kept asking for my zip code whatever formulation I used for my postcode. Maybe it wasn't functioning fully because it was Sunday evening? It still asked me for the correct formulation of my zip code tonight at first but then accepted my post code. It was quite complicated but they finally accepted my application. I can now look forward to receiving it and learning how to set it up. It will be interesting how the readings compare with the finger pricks on my new test kit when that arrives. What fun. :D Thanks again.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars were 10.1 early this morning.

One for @jjraak, Mrs J goes ballistic if I sit on the motorcycle making brum brum noises.

Blood tests today so I have to be well hydrated, unfortunately not alcohol , plain h2o, never mind, I have a nice home cooked dinner to look forward to tonight .

Now I must start my morning. Have the best day you can.

They have never stopped investigating. Yesterday chest xray, heart ultrasound, and ECG. Plus others. He has a consultant surgeon from London who describes Son2 as "a fascinating case "
and wants to do a heart biopsy. This would extract a piece about half the size of a grain of rice and examining this piece of tissue should enable the surgeon to give a definite diagnosis. Son2, now awake, has to give permission and is reluctant.
Cant remember if I mentioned that he had a pacemaker fitted the day before he woke up.
Yesterday he was moved from ICU to HDU. Progress.

Glad to hear that the medics are working on finding a cause for your son's heart problem. Also that he has a pacemaker fitted. Also the move to HDU is a good sign. Thoughts and prayers still with him and with all your family, who must still be seriously worried for him.

Terrible BG this morning at 03.30 - 16.4! Only a guess as to why that happened but a hefty dose of insulin brought it down to within target.

Bin day today and Neil forgot to put it out - the bin lorry just drove past the door. Never mind, it was only half full anyway. Probably be overflowing in 3 weeks, when the next bin day comes around.

Morning all from a mild start here in L.A.. The first swipe of the wheel of fortune - actually just glance at my phone - implied my fbg could have been in the region of 4.6. Today there will be/has already been the first of two deliveries of Ketogenic foodstuffs. Some is new to me but the bread, rolls and Californian blueberry muffins are old friends :woot: . @alf_Josiah I hope your veins are easy to find and the results are as needed. @SlimLizzy hug for the stress but a pacemaker sounds optimistic. Enjoy Tuesday your own way and peace be with you.

Thank you Ian. Unfortunately today has brought a setback, Son2 had another collapse while the surgeon was discussing the heart biopsy. So he is back into bed. More investigating and monitoring. Great disappointment all round.
Of course we were told to expect setbacks, but it's hard when it happens

Hello all. Late post but fbs this morning was 11.0. I had an unpleasant episode last evening. We were sitting in the local theatre listening to Matt Ford when I suddenly felt really hot and my heart felt as though it was racing. I checked my watch and it said my pulse was 121. It stayed that way for a while. At the interval my hands were shaking. It felt like a hypo so I checked my blood sugars and they were 18.9! I drank a bottle of water and did some deep breathing to try and relax and after a while my pulse went down to 94. I got home and went straight to bed feeling exhausted. After taking my Gliclizide , Metformin and Linagliptin at breakfast time as advised by the specialist diabetes nurse last Friday I slept until 11am! I decided to go for our afternoon group walk and I think the fresh air, exercise and good company helped but it is a mystery what caused yesterday's episode. Best wishes to all especially those who are having a difficult time.I wish you all a peaceful night.

Good Morening Gentlemen and Ladies, I’m striking a move for male dominance : only joking Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s forecast to be nice today, the weather that is, more to follow.

My blood sugars this morning were 8.9, now they are 8.6, no I can’t explain the vagaries of this either.

With this weather forecast Mrs J has declared we spend the day refurbishing her planters that I made some years ago, but Mrs J has also declared that she gives me a hair cut and beard trim.

Well, my tea is drunk and it’s time to wake Mrs J, wish me luck.

Please have the best day you can, join me in barking at the post man, smile and never trust an attack of flatulence.
