What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good evening all. Best birthday wishes@ianpspurs. FBS was 10.1. I've had a little adventure since my last post. We had just arrived at a local garden fete last week-end. There was a paved patio then a short drop to a gravel-filled gully leading to a grassy bowling green area. On approach it was difficult to see the drop so I headed for the lawn, my foot landed in the gully and twisted. The next thing I saw was grass right in front of my eyes. Someone who saw me fall said that I fell like a sack of potatoes! Long story short the next morning my foot was badly swollen, bruised and extremely painful! I went to A&E suspecting it was broken. The support I received from all the staff there was excellent. After briefly checking my foot they took me by wheelchair to the "Elderly and Frailty Assessment unit" I was treated with kindness, examined and then taken on a trolley to x-ray. No bones broken but I was told the soft tissue damage would take weeks to heal. I now have a rainbow coloured foot and am managing to walk around the house in slippers but need to try with a shoe on as we have a day trip planned tomorrow that my husband is really looking forward to and I don't want to let him down. Hey ho! So armed with paracetamol, Arnicare cream, a walking stick and two sets of shoes we leave at 6am! (I typed a post earlier in the week but discovered I was logged out so wasn't allowed to post it. I have never had to log in before so had to invent a new password and by then my message had disappeared). Best wishes to you for the week-end.

Morning all from a pleasantly mild, beautifully blue skied L.A.. Fbg here was 4.8 to start my 72nd year. Thanks be to God I have been able to spend another year surrounded by a loving family. Family barbecue - cook out - tomorrow at #1 son's @Annb I have been thinking of you and admiring your fortitude and spirit. @Lamont D good to read of your progress. @Krystyna23040 I'm full of admiration for your energy. @dunelm be careful up those ladders guv'nor. JKP had her op 6 weeks ago and is recovering. She can't use a kettle, lift more than 8 of your English pounds.nor drive yet. Our grandson stayed here some nights to help which was a blessing and a joy. @alf_Josiah grandson's are a rich blessing aren't they. JKP has to be in Ipswich - 40 miles away - by 8.50 next Friday for her follow up review. #1 son will take her. One way or another we have muddled through while JKP recovers.. I am reacquainted with the workings of the washing machine, Mr Tumble drier, hob, oven and newish air fryer. Take care of yourselves and peace be with you all (y'all round here) :)
Happy birthday @ianpspurs. Really good to hear that JKP is doing well after her op

Ouch, that sounds really painful @dogslife. I hope that your day trip goes well

Rainbow colours seem to be in fashion, so you're right up there @dogslife! Seriously though, do be kind to yourself and try not to put too much pressure on that foot. I don't suppose walking on it will be too harmful, but too much might set the recovery back.

PS: I have to log in every time - well I log in the first time I access the site and leave the page open so that any further times I go onto the Diabetes website, I am already logged in. I assumed that was how it worked for everyone.

While I'm at it - FBG at 02.00 today was 5.6.

5.3 this morning.
Today I have actually got a proper lunch break.
My 1:1s that I cram in between classes are away on holiday.

Am really enjoying relaxing and reading and drinking coffee.

Class members love the air con but it is lovely to switch it off as it makes the room too chilly for me to enjoy my lunch break
