What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from what might be a thundery day here in L.A. Fbg was 4.9 but that may be as good as it gets for today. @dogslife collecting the order then staying put sounds like a splendid plan. Yesterday we had time with 3 grandchildren then two son's and partners and a fourth grandchild. #1 grandson had been away at scout camp and returned enthused by a skill he had learned - making woollen bands. He asked if he could use some of the large collection of wool "Nan London" had gathered in her time. He and # 4 granddaughter spent the day making bands. Her brother, 5, soon lost interest. #2 granddaughter had been at at a workshop involving singing, dancing and acting. #3 son returned from Dubai early and unwell. He thinks it was the air n everywhere affecting him but we advised him to see a doctor anyhow. Not sure who arranged it but at the airport he found he had been upgraded to business class for the return flight. Two grandchildren here today. I wonder if there will be any cricket? Peace be with you.
So sorry your son had to come home early due to being unwell. Yes, best to see a doctor to make sure it isn't some foreign lurgi that needs treatment. Yours sounds like a very happy household with all those grandchildren around. Enjoy them and let them enjoy you. That's what grandparents are for.

BG was 5.5 when I went to bed. A bit low for me at that time of day/night. I was dog tired and went to bed about 23.00 and then went and fell asleep sitting on the side of my bed - only half of my night time prayers said as well. Woke up with Libre yelling at me to tell me my BG was low (3.7) at a minute or so before midnight. Had an emergency drink of choc milkshake. Libre woke me again at 02.45 to tell me BG was too high (8.1). Gave up and got up.

Legs done as usual and I'm done in. I did manage to walk, after a fashion, down the ramp to the car. Neil offered to bring the wheelchair in for me, but if I can do it I will. Do it, I did. Just about killed me. That has set the scene for the day, I'm afraid. I did manage to walk back up the ramp but it took me about 10 minutes to cover the 25 feet of the ramp. Much of the rest of the day and probably tomorrow as well, will be spent in the big chair.

After my moan at the Health Centre diabetes nurse, I received a letter today from the hospital dietetics department with an appointment on 8 September. Maybe I should moan more often.

It's actually sunny and very warm here. It must be summer. Temperature in the house is 25C. For us, that's a bit much. Our comfort zone is around 19 or 20C. You can have it back, as far as I'm concerned.
Sorry to read about the impact on you of the effort taken descending and ascending the ramp. Also sorry to read of the impact of sin and heat. 19 C here and I'm distinctly unimpressed.
* As @Annb pointed out it should be sun not sin

The sun has quite an impact too. Sorry Ian. I make so many typos that I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

Yes, you should definitely moan more often @Annb

5.9 this morning.

Mr K had a mishap this morning. He was carrying a huge ladder across the patio when he tripped and the ladder hit him on the head and he crashed onto the patio with the ladder on top of him.

He has been quite sore and I have been head nurse all day.

The soreness is easing off a bit now - thank goodness.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.8, but not now.

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen and those who are battling with pc’s that are being naughty, boot sectors etc, etc etc.

I hope, you all like me, have high hopes for today, drat eye must entering a plank floored phase, an abbreviation on the name of a famous pop grope Pink Floyd.

Beware of the predicted flash floods exposing themselves and their power, canoes are a requirement, along wif life jackets.

Stay safe, smile and the flat earth smiles with you

Good morning all. Fbs today was 10.2. Blood sugars reached 17.0+ last evening and stayed above 10 all night! :arghh: Insulin in my pen is getting low. Not sure if there will be enough for another dose tomorrow so may change to a new pen to make sure. Still on a learning curve about this insulin. Had a busy afternoon catching up on overdue housework including windows and behind furniture etc, neglected during my injury and illness recovery. Very tiring but satisfying! No definite plans for today but who knows? Have a good day everyone. :)
PS: The thunder and heavy rain have just returned so it looks like another stopper- inner afternoon.

BG dropped to 4.9 at about 22.30 yesterday. Had a small sandwich which brought it up to 5.4. Good enough to go to bed reasonably safely.

Libre very kindly let me know at 03.10 that it had a reading of 3.7. I got up and by the time I got through to the kitchen, it was 7.9. Had a milky, sweetened coffee anyway and by 04.30 it was 6.5. Diabetes is one big riddle.

Another day of rest today. My legs really don't want to know about being co-operative so I'm going to be working on my next story - a sequel to the one with the publishers at the moment. Not sure what to do about that if they reject the first one. I have hopes though, I gave the story to a friend who is a published author to read through and - apart from finding a few typos that I had missed, he enjoyed reading it and felt that it should be published.

You can check the amount left in the pen by dialling up as far as it goes - it will turn back to zero. Unless there is just a few units left (+ airshot) it is wasteful to start a new pen, just inject what is left in old pen, noting the amount carefully, then inject the remainder from a new pen.

Thank you@septua for your suggestion. :)

I totally agree@Annb that diabetes is one big riddle. Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it! Best wishes with your stories. :)

Good afternoon. Fbg of 4.9 here despite seeing on the news that we are in Putin's cross hairs. @Krystyna23040 that sounds like a nasty accident for Mr K. I'm pleased to read he feels less sore. @dogslife I hope the advice given helps you to work out how much insulin is left. @Annb sorry to read that the legs are still sore. Perhaps the publisher will say they will publish the first story and commission a second. @alf_Josiah I wish you well with returning your PC to full working order @jjraak thank you for the ratings and I hope all is well with you. Peace be with you all.

Thank you @ianpspurs. I think Mr K is very lucky. He is being very sensible and not overdoing it today.
