Good morning all. Fbs was 9.2. I increased my insulin dose again yesterday after a phone call from the diabetes nurse who is monitoring me. I had an item to collect from M&S yesterday so planned to have lunch in their cafe as a treat. We called at the local chemist on the way to collect my monthly prescription. On returning to the car I checked it and discovered there was no Metformin or Linagliptin in the package. I was sure I had requested them so I went back to the chemist. They checked the contents with my prescription and eventually found a second package containing the missing items.(My husbands prescription was awaiting a delivery). By now it was lunch time and guess what? The car would not start. Many attempts later we decided the battery was flat. We contacted the RAC who initially said it would take between 1 to 4 hours for someone to arrive. It was pouring with rain but my husband walked to a Co-op store not too far away in search of food. The best he could find were packed sandwiches and a machine coffee each but it was better than risking a hypo. The RAC actually arrived 3 hours later and charged the battery enough to get us home as long as we didn't turn the engine off. They arranged to replace the battery today at a cost of £221. ( Expensive but the easiest and quickest option for us). We are still waiting. The good news is that while waiting my husbands prescription item was delivered. I went to collect it and the pharmacist was amazed that we were still there! Fortunately the GP surgery is attached to the chemists and they have a toilet! Best wishes.

Thank you for your response@ianpspurs. We are still waiting to hear from the RAC so are unable to collect the order from M&S yet. The good news is that my new Libre 2 plus arrived this morning, just in time as the existing one runs out tomorrow. Best wishes.

What a carry on! Glad that you got your Metformin and Linagliptin though, and that your husband got his prescription. That's one issue sorted at least. Cars, to my mind, are second only to communication technology in perverseness. Sadly, just as I can't get by without comms tech, a car is an absolute essential. That's a bit steep for a battery, isn't it? Still, good to get it done and your car operational again.

I discovered that medication which appeared (to me) magically on my prescription list had been put there in 2024 - I just had never checked the list because I thought I knew what I should be having. When I asked about it the surgery told me that a diabetes nurse had prescribed it and the practice pharmacist had telephoned me about it. I have no recollection of any such conversation - maybe my memory is worse than I realised. In any case, I wonder what the point was of putting it on my list and never actually sending a prescription to the pharmacy for me.

Because I questioned it, the prescription has now been sent and it was at the pharmacy for me this morning when Neil went in to collect the prescription I had ordered - and which wasn't there because they've run out of insulin at our local pharmacy.

This medication is supposed to support heart and kidneys and it is the most awkward thing to fit into my routine. Nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours before taking it and then nothing else for 35 minutes afterwards. It has to be taken with a restricted amount of water as well. Since I only sleep for 2 or 3 hours that means nil by mouth after 1800. But without doubt I would need painkillers during that time. Then again, I take Levothyroxin which also has to be taken on an empty stomach, so where to fit that in, I don't know. And again, such a long gap will undoubtedly lead to a hypo overnight, and something to boost BG, nullifying the fasting effect. I think I have to talk to the pharmacist and see if he has any ideas. It may be that I can just take all my pills alongside these new ones, leaving the Levothyroxin until later, or at least painkillers with the new tablet.

My grand daughter just informed me that her Mum takes the same tablet that I have been prescribed and she seems to manage it quite well. I'll have to have a word with her and see how she manages it.

Have spent out timetables for the next block of lessons. It actually feels like I have received hundreds of replies from class members wanting to move classes etc. It's a bit like musical chairs at the moment.

Yes@Annb. We were a little shocked at the cost but it was convenient to have the RAC provide and fix it at home as we don't have another car to collect a battery so we had little choice. The battery is also guaranteed for 5 years. The RAC arrived at lunch time today and it was fixed in no time so we are mobile again.

Cooler today but still warm enough for polo shirts, shorts - still no socks*. @Mrs Redboots I hope the Periodontist wasn't too painful for mouth nor bank balance. @Krystyna23040 surely not a member of the fair sex given to exaggeration - my gast is flabbered @jjraak thanks for reading and rating. * I don't think socks appear in the 39 articles defining Anglican Doctrine but this guy will surely be more clued up on that than I Peace be with you all.

6.6 some time in the early hours. Today's been a bit of a wash out and I was feeling so awful that omitted to note the time or record medication that I may, or may not, have taken. Much later I woke in the chair, totally confused - was it Thursday evening or Friday morning? Still wearing my dressing gown, so it must be morning. Eyes not working well enough to read the clock on the wall. Even when I propped them open with my fingers. There was a cup of tea beside me - stone cold!

I've been struggling to stay awake since then and have only just got myself dressed and taken pills. (almost 3 pm) I now have a hot cup of tea beside me and am hoping to get something out of today.

I think this is just the result of my efforts yesterday, getting to the car and back in again after my leggy appointment with the nurse. It takes so much out of me these days, just doing that. Will my new (weight loss) pills help with that? I wonder, or is it too late? I was thinking, while struggling, of my grandmother who felt so tired one morning that she went and laid on the couch (she was 97) and just never woke up again. It was a peaceful end for her, and it wouldn't be a bad way to go but I have too many things to do yet!

Good afternoon all. Fbs this morning was somewhere between 9 and 10. It kept changing as I looked at it! I have just received a notification from the DVLA asking me to send my driving licence to them as it will be replaced with a medical review driving licence which will be valid for 3 years. This is a response to me informing them that I am now using insulin. The deadline for doing so is 22/09 or they will revoke my licence so I am just about to post it. I am feeling a bit under the weather today so have delayed plans to visit our caravan until tomorrow. Best wishes to all.
