What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.9 this morning.

Did a really good bit of training today on Zoom. The teacher was brilliant. I hadn't been to any of his classes before but will certainly do so in the future.

I did loads of admin as well - so a very productive day.

Was especially pleased that Mr K was able to walk further without discomfort.

Good evening. It happened again this afternoon! My Freestyle libre2+ sensor low sugar alarm went off saying my level had dropped below 4. I felt fine so pricked my finger with a score of 11.1. I also kept getting messages saying sensor error and my daily graph had several gaps in it as well as going up and down dramatically -apparently unrelated to what I'd eaten etc. As my results are being monitored by the Diabetes Service and my insulin levels are adjusted accordingly I contacted Abbot for advice. After a lot of discussion and recording of the phone call he decided the sensor was faulty and arranged to send a replacement asap. I have also been asked to return the faulty sensor in a package provided by them. Until then it's back to finger pricking and recording my results in my diary ready for my next appointment. I have just removed my sensor only 3 days after applying it. Hey ho! Good night and best wishes for the week-end. :)
Good that you are getting a replacement sensor @dogslife

5.9 this morning

Did more training today. The teacher taught some workshops at our Professional Body's Development weekend in London in September and was so well received that she was asked to do a workshop on Zoom.

It was brilliant and has given me lots of ideas to use in my classes.

I have been working really hard and my desk is completely clear of paperwork and so is my email inbox.

my fasting bg was 4.4 today and I decided on 2 shredded wheat with soy milk, 10 grapes and 3 strawberries for breakfast. big mistake. CGM rose from 3.9 to 7.7 after 1 hour, fell a little, then rose to 10.1 by 2 hours. then a steep descent to 3.1, so i had my usual breakfast of Scott's Oats with 10g chia and 10g flaxseed with cacao and almond milk. Followed this with 100g mixed berries and grapes with coconut collab kefir unsweetened yogurt. cgm rose a little, then below 3.9 again after an hour with light exercise. unlikely to rise much after this, since this is my usual breakfast and my metabolism copes with it well. perhaps my body has become used to the particular combination, that a year ago would have spiked me, when my fasting bg was nearer 8.0. Fingerstick after 70 minutes is 4.8.

Morning all.

A run of middle sixes here.

This AM.was a bite to eat and tea before a doctor's appointment.

And guess who forgot to test before eating ...DOH.

Too late once i remembered, but I do now have a fool proof method to remember for the meds I have to take...(Obviously only until they make an improved fool..lol)

Pencils, who knew they could be SO useful..

Been a very very lazy weekend.

So today I'm out on the ebike,
First to docs then on to drop off an item of two to a nephew.

Could take the car, but the exercise will do me more good, then just tutting tutting at other drivers.

No real plans this week.
But it's Lauren's birthday the weekend, so her & our Steph have a little tradition of making a trip somewhere to mark it .

They've had rome & Marrakesh ....now it's Brighton's turn...don't ask .:angelic:

I'll hopefully be tending to our furry nephew.

And me & Lauren will celebrate later with a meal out somewhere she likes .

8.9 at 03.00 today.
BG too high yesterday evening and it didn't go down far enough. I'm still trying to work out how to manage this new pill, but I think the problem at the moment may be an old one which I've run out of and should take one daily. It's Metformin. I was wondering if it does any good but I think this has proved that, for me, it is useful. I was certain I had another box of them and only found out when I took the last one in the packet on Saturday that I was wrong. I put an order in to our GP, but they only got it this morning when they opened up. It'll take a day or so to get the prescription to the pharmacy. Might have to up the insulin again to cover.

5.3 at 02.50 today. That was after a drop to 3.4 around 01.00 which needed half a bottle of choc milk shake to bring it up. Should I, then have taken my weight loss pill at 03.00 today? Don't know, but I did anyway. BG now hovering around the 9's and 10's - no Metformin probably the reason for that.

5.3 again at 04.00 today. Up a bit too far after that. Took insulin with breakfast to make up for not having Metformin. It doesn't work as well without Metformin.

Neil is going to town today to see if he can sort out something about a "new " car - either leased or "pre-loved" for the relatively paltry amount I can afford.

EDIT: He's found one - it'll clean me out meantime, but it's worth it to stay mobile. I'll go with him to have a look tomorrow.

Afternoon.

An out of the ordinary 5.2 this morning.

A new batch of strips, maybe the cause.

But I was in a hurry, so didn't bother retesting.

About to get vitamin D blood test done.
Did ask doctor the other day if I could get my b12 done in a recent set of blood tests.

Said its now located under another title.
Serum holotranscobalamin

For those like me, unaware it's now renamed & the levels are different to previous ones maybe worth noting.

Good to keep an eye on once your past 60 if you're taking Metformin.

There was some posts a while back about Metformin being useful in protecting against some cancers.

A more recent topic was it's being on tests In combination with various other medications to see if it offers protection against dementia.

Of course I can't find the link I wanted now.

But a quick Google seems to link the possibility quite prominently.

So good to know it does possibly have some extra properties that might benefit us taking it for T2D.
