I was thinking with the lunch, if it keeps my blood sugar stable until tea time, then wouldn't that help with weight loss?

Slowly trying to eat right..is this good enough to eat?

For breakfast I used to have 2 weetabix and a malted milk biscuit. I now have 1 weetabix and a serving (40g) of high bran For lunch I have 2 slices of warburtons seeded bread with cheese, and a protein bar Do you think these 2 meals are good enough for a lower Carb diet? The lunch keeps me...

Would a higher dose of metformin help?

I have pcos, ir, and need to lose weight. About ten years ago, I was prescribed metformin to help with weight loss. It worked really well and I lost 3 stone. Sadly I never continued and put the weight back on. I am now back on metformin and I have to say, it's not really helping. I've lost a...

Been looking at Greek style yogurts, but there seems to be a lot of sugar in them. Does anyone know if oykos Greek style yogurts are ok?

Feel sleepy after meals on metformin

If I eat a meal with carbs, like I had a brown bread sandwich today with a few crisps and a small cookie after, I will fall asleep. I take metformin after lunch, but still I fall asleep. Does metformin not really work for insulin resistance if you eat high carb? I thought it would help me not to...

    Are Marmite Flat Breads Ok?

I thought 5.2g carb wasn't a lot. Compared to a slice of bread, which I'd usually have. And I wasn't sure if flat breads are complex enough carbs to keep things stable

    Confused About What To Eat

Thanks Lamont D. I do feel like from after breakfast, i can feel a bit tired and not much energy. Which can sound quite bizarre as carbs are meant to give you energy! I shall definitely look at the low carb forum. I need to get this under control.

    Confused About What To Eat

your breakfast suggestion sounds great. Although as i'm used to such large portions, i worry i'd feel hungry if i ate just that. But i really need some alternatives to egg based breakfasts. That makes a lot of sense. It is a vicious cycle and i am getting SO fed up of feeling tired every day...

    Confused About What To Eat

I have pcos and RH. I'm overweight and find losing weight impossible. I take metformin to help. I've read so many conflicting things about what to eat. Some people say to eat complex carbs, others say low carbs. Some say GI and then there's GL. Is it OK to eat things like granary bread or...

Blood sugar after low carb breakfast

I was just going by what I read online about testing it one hour then 2 hours after, to see the rise and fall of your sugar level.

Blood sugar after low carb breakfast

But it hasn't pushed my blood sugar up as much as weetabix would. I think I read before that with insulin resistance, you can feel shaky and rubbish even when it's not as low as say a diabetic would need to be to feel hypo

Blood sugar after low carb breakfast

I am non diabetic but have pcos and insulin resistance. I am really exploring the low carb way of eating and just trying some simple changes gradually. I usually have 2 weetabix with some high fibre bran on top, a glass of milk and a cup of tea. Usually this makes me feel REALLY tired and...

Anyone seen a diabetes nurse for insulin resistance?

I've always had it off label, they've always had to reiterate that it's off label. I wonder if there's anything else you can take instead of metformin?

Anyone seen a diabetes nurse for insulin resistance?

I've got an appointment in a week, to talk about blood sugar levels with the diabetes nurse. I've got pcos and ir. My hba1c level was normal. I don't know what the actual result was, just normal and no further action required. I just don't know how a nurse is going to help me. I want to go...

some advice needed for asking my doc for metformin again

Got my blood test results today, everything normal. I didn't ask what the number was on the hbac1 result. I think you can still have insulin resistance without it showing on the blood test. I don't know what to do about seeing the diabetes nurse now. I don't really know how she is going to...

some advice needed for asking my doc for metformin again

UPDATE: I've spoken to the doctor today and she said that they don't generally prescribe metformin for pcos anymore. She wants to do some blood tests, hba1c and thyroid etc, also a fasting blood test. And once that's done, she wants me to make an appointment with the diabetes nurse, as she said...

some advice needed for asking my doc for metformin again

If that was me, I would change surgeries! You need to really get your point across and ask them what you need to do to convince them to prescribe it again. Guess like me, you have to prove that it's worked before Feel sorry for you
