    C-Peptite Test

I was on the Randox website the other day for unrelated reasons, but I noticed that as part of some of their tests they do C-Peptide. Might be worth keeping that in mind if your doctor says no to performing the test. They have a test called 'Discovery' that includes a bunch of stuff, and costs...

    Help !- Creatine Kinase Elevated

Are you taking a statin...? I wouldn't be worried about slightly elevated levels unless I suspected that a statin was causing the muscle damage. If that was the case, I'd stop it straight away, as per the information leaflet advice.

    Cholesterol levels

Do you have other complaints aside from not being able to get blood test results online...? I've been having my diabetic clinic appointments over the phone since the start of covid, I assume everyone else has too, don't know why you didn't get the same...? Covid or not, that should have...

What do you mean we "don't have the NHS" in Northern Ireland? Maybe you're making some kind of joke that I clearly haven't understood.

    Snacks

I've only conducted this test once so far, but, I tested at 9.2 the other night at 10pm. I had 50g of Pringles (a quarter of a tube / can). Tested again at midnight, was 7.2. That's 28g of carbs.

    Cramp in my calf's

When you say 'twitching', do you mean tensing / contracting...? And by "muscles just above the ankles" do you mean the calf muscles...? I feel like if I tensed my calves it might bring on a cramp, so I definitely want to avoid that. Actually, it feels like there are always what I'm going to...

    Cramp in my calf's

My waking level seems pretty consistent. However, I've noticed a slight increase in level when I test 2 hours after breakfast. Seemed to coincide with the cramps showing up... can't help but wonder if it is indeed related, and there's been a deterioration in my condition. (I eat the same...

    Whey Protein lowering my BG

Nope; nothing else was consumed in place of the whey when I removed it. My daily food intake and non-existent activity level remained the same. My life is very consistent in every single area. There's nothing else I can put it down to. I'll be experimenting in the coming days with taking...

    Whey Protein lowering my BG

I've searched, but only found a few, not very popular threads regarding the use of whey for the lowering of blood glucose. I'd been a consumer for years of a certain brand of whey protein in the pursuit of gaining muscle. I hadn't really considered that it was doing much for my blood glucose...

long use of metformin, leading to lack of folate,

Do you mean that if one is low, the other can be high...? Or if one is low then the other might also be low...? Just trying to clarify what precisely you mean by an imbalance in the other. I don't know what my folate and iron is, but I found out a few months ago that I have high B12. (test...

    High triglycerides and hba1c

Had you eaten at some point before you had the blood taken..? This is why I do all my bloods fasted these days. If you've eaten, your triglycerides can fly up, and that would obviously be reflected in the test.

Type 2 Is no increase OK / healthy..?

Thanks for posting your own personal experience, but I want to see a link to any respected source that says we should, that it's normal, to be back to baseline 2 hours after a meal. If no one can substantiate it, it seems like just their opinion.

Type 2 Is no increase OK / healthy..?

How much weight did you lose..? I'm not really that fat... I lost 7lbs recently to take me down to just over 12 stone. I really can't say if that was enough to make any kind of difference to how my body is currently working. All I know is that I've been seeing encouraging numbers from the...

Type 2 Is no increase OK / healthy..?

Yes, but they say it decreases the amount of sugar absorbed by the intestines in the first place, so clearly it works on sugar from the meal before it ever gets to the blood. So as soon as you put the food in your body, Metformin is apparently working to ensure that you absorb less sugar...

Type 2 Is no increase OK / healthy..?

Been stated by 3 people at this point I think, but as yet no source provided to back the claim up... My own results show that will depend on what I eat. For example, I started at 6 mmol on Tuesday, and I had 150g of 'no added sugar' Alpen. Tested an hour later, was sitting at 13. Tested...
