    Dawn of the intermittent faster!

I know this is a long way back and I am still reading your amazing journey. I've been an IF for 3.5 years, but never done 24 hours. This particular post shouted at me as I had a horrible day on Weds after having blood tests done. We don't eat until midday but at 11am OH was wanting food (he'd...

    Peripheral Neuropathy resolving I think.

I'm an Intermittent Faster (3.5 years). No food between 9pm and midday then 2 meals in the gap. I am taking steroids so despite the above and following a lower carb, high fat and protein regime, my BG hasn't reduced. Since 10 days into the Metformin and my PN symptoms of the last 18 months have...

    Peripheral Neuropathy resolving I think.

It's only very recently that I discovered the soles of my feet on fire and the burning stabbing pains in the index fingers is possibly down to PN. I am pleased to report that this seems to have relented with the Metformin treatment. I am over the moon as the pain on many days was excruciating...

Low level side effects, how long?

I think I have done quite well to get to 63&3/4s living the life I live. After years of trying various 'diets' and never ever maintaining an ideal weight I decided aged 55 I would never again do something I could not sustain. I read about the Newcastle diet and thought how soul destroying it...

Low level side effects, how long?

I'm not really interested in alcohol, so the rare wine is because we don't bother, not because we have given up.

Low level side effects, how long?

I think OH would go mad if there were yet another bleeping event in the house! But yes, this is a good plan.

Low level side effects, how long?

I could change and am concerned that I will forget as I will then have 3 lots of med times. However, will give it a shot. Thanks :) Edited to add, "Diet only, low carb/high fat/normal protein" Please to see your line above. My French doctor, as lovely as he is, has asked me to reduce fat...

Low level side effects, how long?

No, not taking morning dose with food. I'll put up with the discomfort as I am unwilling to change the Intermittent Fasting regime. It's my norm now.... When you consider I had a metabolism that went haywire mid morning, got low blood sugar late afternoon when preparing evening meal, IF works...

    HB1AC

My reading in June last year was 50. In Oct 17 it was 45. I am guessing that our Intermittent Fasting, lowish complex carb/high protein regime has helped keep it almost in check. I take Prednisolone and Methotrexate so have been fighting against the tide.

    HB1AC

My last HB1AC was 49. Looking at others highs and lows, mine seems reasonable for a beginner. Can someone explain to me why I am not in the higher values. Thanks.

Low level side effects, how long?

I have had Polymyalgia Rheumatica for 3 years. Am gradually coming off but have to balance the tapering with the resurgence of symptoms. I'll get there.

Low level side effects, how long?

Yes, we are intermittent fasters (3.5 years) and most of our carbs are complex. IF has had no effect on me as I started on steroids a few months later. My Type 2 is steroid induced. CARNIVORE IS MY MIDDLE NAME :)

Low level side effects, how long?

I was wondering how long low level side effects go on for. Slightly muzzy head, grumbly stomach and urgent visit to the loo x 2 per day. Metformin .....commenced on 500mg 9 days ago, rising to 500mg x 2, 2 days ago. Thanks

Type 2 Intermittent fasting & Metformin

Thanks. My tablets aren't slow release. However, I will continue as I have started. Nothing drastic has happened so far.

Type 2 Intermittent fasting & Metformin

Thanks for your reply. The raised blood sugar is down to steroids sadly. I am currently tapering my dose but it is taking a long time. My blood sugar was pretty good before steroids even though I am morbidly obese. I hope once I am off steroids (in my dreams) that my blood sugar will return...

Type 2 Intermittent fasting & Metformin

I have been following the Michael Mosley intermittent fasting regime since September 2015 in an attempt to address Insulin resistance. 4 months later was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) and started on steroids. Have continued the intermittent fasting, eating fist meal at around...
