Back to reality with a bang

Carbs? Been there, done that. You can definitely do without them. Being well and diabetes symptoms free is far better. I loved bread, pasta, rice - eat loads. I now LCHF and don't miss them at all. No cravings. It is not even difficult to stick to. A diagnosis of diabetes really is it - end of...

Back to reality with a bang

You can't do 'normal' - 'normal' is too carby and big portions that are pushed on us in restaurants and ready meals. My friends who are slim don't eat starters, mains AND desserts. Don't think about 'losing weight' as such. It's a lot of pressure. Start low carbing to get the BG figures down...

    Type 2 and weight loss

Hi Kim, welcome to the forum. Being overweight is quite complex. To become 'big', you have to ignore the increased weight, clothes not fitting, going up dress sizes, choosing clothes more carefully to look good and accepting how you look. Losing weight is exactly the same. Being overweight might...

Does anyone know of Home Delivery LCHF stuff in the uk...

Don't cook. I just throw anything on a plate. Very lazy. Spinach leaves, nuts, seeds, olives, avocados, peppers, any (cooked) meat - love the bacon smoked by my local butcher - and/or cheese. Lashings of full fat mayonnaise. Yum! Small price to pay and a big incentive to get off/stay off the...

Does anyone know of Home Delivery LCHF stuff in the uk...

Having just looked at a 'low-carb' store, think it would be far better to stick to real, basic ingredients rather than more, endlessly commercial processed food stuff. Sorry!

    Substitute for potatoes

I have got past trying to substitute potatoes etc. Just eat more/wider range of vegetables (and have the chicken skin, too).

    Breakfast

Anything. Lots of recipes on the forum. Yogurt, berries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds - bit like a muesli. Cheese, celery. Some people eat left-over dinner from night before. Sometimes just a coffee with cream is filling enough. Why does it have to be a 'breakfast' food? Think we have been...

    Too much weight loss

I am younger than you and eating in the 70s wasn't low fat so butter and all fat always has seemed more natural. Remember the cream on top of the milk in the milk bottles on doorsteps and the birds pecking the aluminum tops to drink the cream? Glad to be off the marg. and back on the butter.

    Diary day 1

    Read up on 'Dawn Phenomenon'.
  13. M

    When to test

I don't worry about first thing in the morning as the Dawn Phenomenon can affect the reading and doing it as soon as I wake up isn't the first thing I want to be concentrating on before I even get started. Nearly 3 years after diagnosis, I test 2 hours after a meal ONLY when I have a different...

    paleo or lchf

LCHF - I like my dairy too much - cheese and cream. Again, not too much fruit except berries. Definite 'yes' to nuts, oils, butter etc.

    Low Carbing in Paris

Went to area just south of Paris last week. Asked for salad instead of potatoes or rice. Waiters just think us ladies are watching our weight!

I had no idea how chunky I was......

My son loves Weird Fish. Got 10 blue T-shirts. The problem with losing weight is I went out and bought new stuff BUT in the same old style. It took a change of mindset to choose fitted rather than the usual baggy styes.

I had no idea how chunky I was......

The bigger the clothes got , the bigger I got! Just cos it 'fits' does not mean it looks good, unfortunately.

    how to mess up

I was a total bread, pasta and cereal addict. Now I low carb/high fat and no cravings - gone. I could crave by continuing to eat those foods but why do it? Cheese keeps me on the straight and narrow if I feel vaguely snacky. No cheese in the fridge and I don't bother. Remove the starchy/carby...

I had no idea how chunky I was......

Totally understand. Fat Face and White Stuff are currently my fav shops. I can get into their sizes 16 or 18 now depending on the style. Used to live in M&S stuff because they stocked large size 22s. My theory is that if shops didn't stock large sizes, most of us wouldn't have put on weight...

    The slower the loss

Not true! Slower the loss the less likely you are to lose any weight.
