    Colonoscopy

Mine were just the usual ones. I didn't even know there was a sugar free version. However as has already been said - it won't be inside you for long

    Eyesight better and worse

While I'm sure that for the vast majority this is just temporary, there are 2 or 3 members in the 'other forum' who say that changing their blood glucose too fast caused permanent eyesight changes. Perhaps they are mistaken, but just in case, I never advise such sudden changes. In most cases...

    Kidney function

to re-assure people on low carb, Dr David Unwin has published data which shows that his low Carb patients have better age-adjusted Kidney function than those not on Low Carb. Thus implying that Protein doesn't harm kidney function, at least in those without pre-existing kidney disease.

    weight lifting and type 2

One important thing vegetarians should understand, is that vegetable protein is a lot less bio-available than animal protein is. Thus you need both more of is and from different plants too.

    Colonoscopy

I've had 9 colonoscopy's and 3 gastroscopy's The first colonoscopy and the first 2 gastroscopy's I had sedation, but not the others since I desperately wanted to see what the surgeon/technician was seeing. If you don't want to see, or are concerned about a little pain or discomfort and are not...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Many/most of us T2's, who aren't on Insulin or Glic, self fund Test Strips and Lancets. Since all BG meters sold in the UK have to meet minimum standards, we tend to buy BG meters which have the cheapest test strips, because it's the cost of the strips which is almost always the biggest cost...

    High ldl calcium plaque artries

I can certainly say that this was the case with me - about 15 yrs of Law Fat, whole grain (Eatwell Plate) food immediately before my clogged arteries and 3x Cardio Artery Bypass grafts. For the 49 yrs before that I didn't follow any particular way of eating, having always been on the slim side...

Strong DP, High BGs and fasting (TRE)

I'm a T2 now in (diet controlled) remission for 5yrs. Back in the early weeks I had some DP, but was still eating breakfast because I was not yet 'fat adapted'. My breakfast of 2 boiled eggs stopped the DP in its tracks such that my post breakfast BG reading was always as low or lower than my...

    Help. I'm high.

Hi @MCMLXXIII I assume you are asking about lifestyle alternatives to ND, not medical ones (which include metformin, SGLT2's, insulin, bariatric surgery etc. etc.). In my personal opinion, not a DCUK stance, people very often get hung up about minor differences in approach with lifestyle for...

    Lorry drivers

Hi @mantha81 and welcome to the forum. I would hesitate to start taking action against T2 Diabetes just because a person is overweight and tired, rather than actually having either pre or full T2 Diabetes. Especially if heart problems come into the picture, because the best diet to avoid T2...

    Type 2

Hi @Dev1942 and welcome to the forum. There are many forum members who have also got their T2 Diabetes into remission (unfortunately it isn't cured since if we go back to eating the way we used to, we would have a diabetic level HbA1C again). I'm a relative newby, only having been in T2D...

    High ldl calcium plaque artries

Regarding LDL: You are quoting his paper's quote from the (referenced) studies not what he found in his own patients on Low Carb. I have not delved into the data supporting that finding in those studies, but the highlight is written to imply that low carb increased LDL whilst only saying that...

    Weight loss

Hi @gillin1 There are 2 main approaches to both losing weight and keeping Blood glucose moderately low and steady (it always fluctuates even in non-diabetics). They are: A). A very low calorie diet - see 'Newcastle diet' or Dr Michael Mosely's 'Fast 800 blood sugar diet'. Or...

How open are you about your T2 diabetes?

Just try stopping me from telling random people about my T2 Diabetes remission and my low carb diet. Any excuse will do for me to bring up the subject. It's not like it is something to be ashamed of, is it?

Wanting to try intermittent fasting & to reduce meds

Hi @Kukkar and welcome to the forum. I'm a slim T2 Diabetic diagnosed just over 6 yrs ago and have been in remission for just over 5yrs. I practice Intermittent Fasting, but that is merely an add-on to the thing which put me on the path to remission. In my search for a 'cure' I found 2 main...

    Type 2 diagnosis

Hi @teggers88 You say that you don't have time to cook eggs. My solution to that was to batch cook hard boiled eggs and keep them in the fridge. Back before I got 'fat adapted' (hence no longer hungry for breakfast) I used to eat 2 or 3 large hard-boiled eggs for breakfast each day. I would...

How long have you been diagnosed type2

Diagnosed T2 in April 2019, I am/was a slim diabetic always normal weight or below up until diagnosis. Only 2lbs overweight even at my heaviest. LCHF an Intermittent fasting got me in remission by May 2020. Still normal BG, but only just under pre-diabetic level.
