    Retinopathy/ macular oedema

I get floaters after injections. Had both eyes done this week. Occasional small , bit like a small fly , flitting about. Also get large floaters a bit like black snooker balls clanging together. They lift when you look down and drop as you look up. This is quite normal for me,and they quickly...

    Retinopathy/ macular oedema

Eyelea is actually a new drug for treatment of retinopathy in diabetes and has only been approved for use by n.I. c.e in the last 3 months. I have just started with eyelea after 4 years of jnjections of lucentis. If they catch early signs of retinopathy or oedema, the chances are good that a...

Reusing insulin pen needles.....on holiday, four days to go and one needle left...

Have often used needles for a few days with no problem. If you don't fancy that you could buy a pack of plastic from a chemist and draw up from the cartridge.

    diabetic macular oedema

Thank for that himtoo. Obviously not many diabetics on eyelea yet. Are you having injections, running alongside the mask. Did you take part in trials for the mask or just purchase it. My eyes are maintaining the levels they were at when I took part in an 18 month trial for lucentis so I've...

    diabetic macular oedema

Would like to know if anyone on the forum who has oedema has been having eyelea injections. My consultant is going to start me on a loading dose of 3 injections. Having had 50 plus lucentis she hopes that eyelea may last longer, and is proving very successful for diabetics. If anyone is in a...

    Need help ASAP

Ignore last post if it's dropping that quickly a correction dose could take you into hypo territory.

    Need help ASAP

Take a correction dose. Then check your bloods in an hour. Please check your bloods again before you inject and wash your hands before you check it's so easy to get a false reading. Don't panic 20 is not disastrous.

    Lots of lows

I worked for 30 years in a very activee job and like yourself my workload could change rapidly. I could start jobs with bloods of 12-14 and within an hour be hypo 2-3 . However hard I tried an even pattern was never achieved. Totally impossible to start any active work , with bloods in single...

Help please. My BG levels over 19 since after lunch.

Perhaps you could just try increasing your basal dose slightly and hope it comes down overnight.

Help please. My BG levels over 19 since after lunch.

Correction doses can be very hit and miss as everyone's insulin needs are different, but I use 1 mark of insulin to reduce BG by 3. Ie if you start at 19 and would like to reduce it to 10 inject 3 marks. But be aware that you could get insulin overlap, which could rapidly reduce levels. Only...

Would you take a cure if it became available? Curious?

Would not think twice. To live a normal life, to leave the house and not have to remember bloods food, testing absolute bliss. No chance of hypos. Can't believe any type 1 wouldn't jump for joy.

Type1, awful week, started painfully and just got worse.

Thanks Catherine, sorry the post sounds so negative,I've probably frightened people off. Just had a bad week, and wanted to get it off my chest.

Type1, awful week, started painfully and just got worse.

Had lucentis injections.both eyes on Monday. Have posted before that this is usually uncomfortable ,but bearable. Not this time, have had 50+ jabs but this week one of the worst. All docs seem to have different techniques ? . I really objects to being told ,that you shouldn't be feeling...

Cheery headline and enlightened comments, it's a great combination....

Well that's a bonus because 30 years ago after a pension medical , I was refused a death in service component. When I asked a doctor at my next review why I might have been refused ,he explained that records at the time would suggest, I wouldn't live another 30 years as diabetes reduced life...

I am so scared. First assisted hypo.

Assisted hypo means you need assistance ie, a third party to help you recover , and if your type 1 and never had one your very lucky , and if your T2 you never will. To pink polo I would say ,if you have unpredictable blood sugars highs lows with no real pattern, always carry quick acting...

Anonymous Question Does hitting control hypos?

Perhaps you should explain that the best way to bring you out of a hypo would be 100ml of lucozade and a couple of biscuits. Had my wife hit me every time I had a hypo, I would have been beaten to death years ago. Seriously I think you need to explain that there are times when your...

    Just diagnosed type 1

Hi Stewart, have just read your plight. I would agree with Donnelly ring your GP in the morning and insist you are referred immediately to a hospital, and see a specialist diabetic nurse or consultant. Don't accept any ifs or buts. Your treatment has been disgusting. As time goes by you will...
