Grapefruit can also react badly with many medications. Best to check before combining it with any drug.

A diet and exercise plan that actually works for insulin resistance?

Pretty much every T2 is insulin resistant to one degree or another because hyperinsulinemia is the first stages of developing T2 long before blood sugars rise. Too much insulin causes the resistance. Reducing or eliminating carbs can help reduce insulin levels in the body which will help with...

Diagnosed type 2 today and scared

Hi and welcome :D I am wondering why you are feeling ashamed and embarrassed. Type 2 diabetes is a result mostly of genetics combined with a modern high carb processed diet. If you are not genetically predisposed it does not matter what you do or eat you will not develop it. It sound to me like...

    Levels

I am on forxiga which is the same class of drug and I have never gone hypo or heard of anyone going hypo because of this type of drug. It removes excess glucose by preventing your kidneys from reabsorbing it back into the bloodstream. If you do not have excess glucose you will not pee it out...

    Testing strip failures

I have a contour next now and I love it. It is very accurate as tested against the lab and takes very little blood. I almost never get strip errors, like once out of every 10 boxes.

    Testing strip failures

I had a verio IQ and did not like it. Lots of strip errors and it read high. At least 1 mmol higher than it should as tested against the lab.

    Worried

Make yourself some eggs and eat. They will not raise you any higher but not eating can cause a liver dump and increase your BG. By all means see if you can get a test done and then make an appointment with your doctor as soon as you can. Keep a log of what you eat and your readings both before...

I don't understand the high levels

It really doesn't matter what someone else does. Use your meter to tell you what works for you. If you spike that high it is too many carbs or it is a food you are sensitive to.

Modified Carbs Diet my Hospital Experience???

It seems to me the main message on this forum is "eat to your meter" which leaves the door open to all different levels of carbohydrate consumption. Some need to go very low, others can tolerate a much higher level and still get good results. Some people here eat mainly meat while others are...

    Need some help please

That will be your liver giving its opinion. Metformin is supposed to help with this. Forxiga works by clearing excess sugar out of the bloodstream via the kidneys. Neither one will cause hypos. Your other meds stimulate insulin production and can cause hypos.

Why isn't hyperinsulinemia talked about more

I have mentioned many many times that a fasting c-peptide test is valuable info. I am one who has a very hard time losing weight even on low carb and I do have hyperinsulinemia. I am in Canada however and have a doctor willing to do this test every 3 months with my A1c. It infuriates me when...

How many times a day usually T2 's measure BG (people on insulin as well as tablets)??

Fasting and before lunch, dinner, and just before bedtime. I will also test at 1 and 2 hours if I eat something out of the ordinary. I also test ketones before bed.

    Counting carbs

You need to count it but it is very low so eating freely is OK. This is where your daily carb allowance should be coming from. You will be getting a bit of carb from dairy as well and nuts if you are eating these things.

    psoriasis type 1 or 2?

I also saw a dramatic reduction in joint pain after going gluten free but not in my psoriasis. This past 4 days I have been in the city celebrating both my husband and son's birthdays and went completely off diet. My blood sugar did not go too far off the rails but my joints and muscles are very...

    psoriasis type 1 or 2?

I have had severe psoriasis since my first pregnancy 29 years ago. I also have psoriatic arthritis, coeliac, rosacea, blepharitis, and type 2 diabetes. All are autoimmune except the diabetes but 30 years of heavy steroid use probably explains that. I am on stelara and my skin is very clear. It...
