Thanks for the replies, in regards to veg- this is one of the things which has changed most, I eat MORE now and alot more. Fluids I am drinking at least 3 litres a day, I do have chia seeds so I might give that ago, am I right in thinking the fibre offsets the amount of carbs? Are there any...

Where do I get fibre from to prevent digestive issues?

Hi all, not long been diagnosed at new year (STILL) don't know what type I have. Since I've changed my diet, I have found myself constipated virtually since the start, as we know what can happen when you force too much.. Anyway, yeah that's happened. I have a piece of wholegrain bread with...

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I still haven’t been told which type I have and do insulin 3 times a day and long acting lantus before bed. I checked my BG before my dinner and it was 7.7, before breakfast it was 8.4. So it has come down. I’m expecting a call today from nurse so will ask if...

    My breakfast today

Hi all, today I had bacon with fat chopped off, 2 fried eggs, a small wholemeal piece of toast and a slice of cheese. Is this okay to have? I've been having omelette since I was diagnosed on NYE but needed something different. Does anyone have any other ideas for breakfast what are good for...

    Pain in hands and feet

Hi, I was actually started on statins on 30th December too, however my GP told me to stay off these for a month due to very abnormal liver tests, I only took it for 2 days. As another user has posted they had no symptoms until they started insulin, it's abit of a weird one.

    Mirtazapine -

I used to be on this - It sounds weird but Mirtazapine works better for sleep at lower doses eg. 15mg before bed. When I was on it for depression, I was on a higher dose and it didn't help sleep, in the end the doctor put me on another antidepressant and prescribed mirtazapine 'off label' for...

I've forgot to take my night med

Hey, yeah the doctor called and as it was around 7am he told me not to take it, but to keep an eye on BG and just use my novorapid with meals and lantus tonight as normal. My BG was 7.9 this morning which surprised me as I thought it would be in double figures. I think I'll leave an alarm on my...

I've forgot to take my night med

Apologies I didn't reply sooner, I didn't think I'd get a reply at the time, I phoned 111 and they advised me NOT to take it and that a doctor would call me within six hours. The dose I missed was my night time long acting one.

Not sure if I should take my night insulin tonight

Thanks for that, just out of curiosity if it wasn't taken, would blood sugar rise overnight even though I won't be eating and also, what number would it need to be before bed for it to be wise not to take it or is it just taken regardless? Thanks again

    Question about tonights levels

Thank you for your replies. Yes, insulin with each meal and one before bed. I think I'll understand more when I've been on the course the diabetic nurse mentioned. I'm still finding my way around and I will update my profile, thanks for that advice. I'll try to steer away from mash if I need to...
