Well of course what goes in has to come out. You've been as much help as my GP thanks.

    Hot tingling feet

Hello, I was supposed to have a IGF test last year after a borderline HbAic but put it off for several reasons and the locum doctor won't even entertain the idea now and treats me as a hypochondriac. I have had an underactive thyroid for many years, so put the tiredness down to that, but have...

Does T2 make you feel dizzy when hungry?

The title is self explanatory, but had dizzy spells for about six months now and recent HbA1C was 44 and 45 but have not been diagnosed as diabetic or pre-diabetic. One GP recommended an IGF test and another has refused it point blank stating diabetes doesn't develop that quickly. Is that true?

Hba1c borderline but blood glucose ok?

It was a different doctor, who wasn't aware I'd already had the test twice ( neither was I tbh ) and he was adamant, no IGF test, no HbA1C retest and no referral to an endocrinologist. Full complaint lodged with the NHS. It would be worthwhile keeping an eye on your thyroid btw as the conditions...

Hba1c borderline but blood glucose ok?

Hi thanks for your sympathy, there's a lot worse off though, For brekkers I have a bowl of porridge made with water and 2 sweetners and a dash of semi skimmed milk. Many, many, cups of tea, milk no sugar. Lunch- a peanut butter sandwich on wholemeal bread ( or a banana sarnie ) followed by an...

Has anyone developed thyroid problems since diagnosis of T2?

That's really rough, sorry to hear that. Hope you've got your conditions under control now, finding a decent NHS endocrinologist is hard.

Has anyone developed thyroid problems since diagnosis of T2?

I'm so sorry to hear that. So were you overactive ( Graves ) and now underactive because they've removed them?

Has anyone developed thyroid problems since diagnosis of T2?

I'm suspicious of the NHS recommended TSH levels, unless my TSH is hovering around 1.00 I feel like a sloth with memory problems.

Has anyone developed thyroid problems since diagnosis of T2?

H Thanks for replying. I went to see a private endocrinologist when the synthetic thyroxine didn't work and the first thing he told me was I'd probably develop diabetes. The problem is a lot of the symptoms overlap, particularly the tiredness and I went through a stage recently where I kept...

Hba1c borderline but blood glucose ok?

No he hasn't ordered another blood glucose test, just the Hb1ac, yes I agree, it seems pointless. I remember last year going through a spell when weight just dropped off me for no reason, but I am fat due to my thyroid packing up, so I thought "oh great". I can't eat more than 1500 calories a...

Has anyone developed thyroid problems since diagnosis of T2?

I'm just interested how many with an auto immune diabetic condition have gone on to develop other endocrine problems like thyroidism. I seem to be going the other way. The problem is getting through to my GP that the tiredness is different to the type caused by the thyroid problem, in any case...

Hba1c borderline but blood glucose ok?

Thanks very much for your advice. Just had an argument with the GP receptionist this morning about it not being necessary to fast for an Hb1ac as the GP is insisting it is, but as I have already fasted for the blood glucose for the previous Hb1ac at the same time, a repeat test seems redundant...

Hba1c borderline but blood glucose ok?

Just been informed my blood glucose blood test was OK but Hba1c or whatever it's called was 44 and borderline. What's the usual next step one doc wanted me to go for a glucose intolerance test and this guy wants to repeat the Hba1c? I fasted for both tests but he doesn't seem aware of this even...

    Re-heated pasta reduces the carbs

I read an interesting article in the Daily Mail that researchers found by boiling it, freezing it and then re-heating it it reduces the carbs that turn to sugar and increases the fibre content. Good to know. Hey don't shoot the messenger! I was only passing on info from a usually good source...

How much did your car insurance increase by?

Thanks very much everyone, I've been putting off my IGT test as I thought my insurance would rocket and the DVLA would revoke my licence, but 6.2 isn't quite diabetes is it?

Is type 2 reversible with Prof Roy Taylor

So basically lose weight and move about more is the Holy Grail? I read some scam advertisement yesterday about a guy who stated he'd reversed his Type 2 by following a diet devised by Joseph Borden, anyone heard of him? This guy, Ricky Everett, who claims to be a professional marathon runner...

Anyone heard of or used a drug called Acipimox?

I clicked on a headline about a guy who claims he's cured himself of Type 2 by using an organic method and send money and he'll tell all (haha), but he mentioned a drug called Acipimox for diabetes but Google states it's used to lower cholesterol. Anyone heard of any breakthroughs with this drug...

    Am I prediabetic?

Had a blood test a few weeks ago which came back at 5.8 blood glucose and borderline urea and electrolytes. GP ordered a glucose test as he said I was borderline, yet reading this site, it seems 5.8 is normal? Shall I have the test? Not sure I want to find out

    Boozing

I'm sorry you're mistaken, brandy for example is distilled from fermented wine. All alcohol has sugar to feed the yeast for fermentation, and all spirits are distilled from this fermented juice.
