    Medication how long ?

Hi Kurvez I hope you do well on your medication. I am stunned that you were given Byetta so soon after diagnosis. I use it but from the time that the surgery nurse suggested it might be a good idea until I actually got it was about 7 months. I had to see a consultant and then wait for a training...

    Medication how long ?

How long have you been diagnosed? I too take Metformin and Byetta and also Gliclazide. I'm hoping that before long I can come right off the gliclazide, it has been reduced by half and I do get hypos fairly often. However doc wants me to stay on it until I have lost another couple of stone. One...

    BYETTA

I can't see the point in using 2 pens either. Just go for it. I had a couple of weeks of nausea but you already know you have to reduce portions and that helps along with things like ginger tea. Also your pen is set to deliver 60 doses over a 30 day period, yes there is a little left at the end...

    BYETTA

My GP prescribes 2 pens at a time to last me 60 days. They are expensive and so to have 2 going at once is wasteful and abusing the NHS. Obviously you haven't done that on purpose. Each time when I take in the script to the chemist I take 1 and then he orders the other a month later when I need it.

If I think it's going to be warm I keep my pen in a Frio pouch and find it very good. I spend quite a lot of time in hot countries and either use the frio or pop it in the fridge. I don't have any problem with injecting it cold.

Metformin not working for me & no alternative!

Don't be despondant GC because I'm sure they will be able to help you. I had a really bad patch and felt dreadful although my BG's were in the teens so goodness knows how you must be feeling in the 20's. You do have to help yourself as well though and that isn't easy when you feel like you do...

Metformin not working for me & no alternative!

Hi Gingercat, good luck with your appointment on Wednesday. I was feeling like you too but am much better now my meds are sorted and I am once again in control. I take Metformin and have Glucophage SR. Glucophage is I believe the original medicine and all the others are copies and therefore...

Hi, I use Byetta and have had a few hypos. I manage it now by having small mid morning and afternoon snacks, Either a piece of fruit and/or an oatcake with a small cube of cheese. It helps me avoid them. When I was first prescribed Byetta my consultant said to reduce the gliclazide and not the...

    help

Sorry to hear you feel so fed up. I'm sure someone will come along who is much more knowledgable about food than me but I really think you should be eating 3 meals a day even if they are small ones. If you don't eat breakfast your BG will most probably go up. For me jacket potatoes are...

    help

Hi, I agree you need to get back to your doc or DSN. I see you have a sweet tooth (and me) but what about all the other carbs you eat. If you post your diet for a day here there are some knowledgable folk who may be able to suggest some changes which would help you. Many seem to find that when...

    How Long To See Consultant?

If you telephone the hospital and ask to speak to the consultants secretary she/he will be able to give you an idea. If you are in the position to accept a last minute/short notice cancellation you could also make that known to the secretary.

    BYETTA

Hi. I can't help wondering if injecting after a meal is hindering the way Byetta works and could possibly be why your levels are not coming down. I was told to inject up to an hour before food and absolutely not during or after a meal, it works I am told when it detects a rise in blood glucose...

Hi Wirral, have you reduced the carbs you eat? My BG dropped dramatically almost as soon as I started Byetta but at the same time I used the reduction in appetite to drastically rethink my menus and cut out most of the carbs I eat. I have read and was told that you need a few to make the Byetta...

The soles of my feet hurt

I'm glad you are feeling better, has the pain in your feet gone? I didn't get any ringing in my ears, best to read through the patient information leaflet and see if it mentions it. The trouble is it's very easy to blame everything on a drug! :?

    Appeal for blood doners

My son is a fit, healthy young man and has regularly given blood for a few years. At the moment he is living in Switzerland and tried to give blood there, however he was turned away because he lived in UK between certain dates. I think it was 1990 -96. He was told there was a risk anyone living...

I haven't had any problems with a cough. I seem to remember the leaflet from one of my drugs metioned a cough as a side effect. I can't think which one but it's probably one of the blood pressure drugs.

The soles of my feet hurt

It was a while back now and I can't remember. I think tiredness which I used to have big time was more to do with my poorly controlled BG. Now it is well controlled I am much less tired. I do remember the pain in my feet which was dreadful and a lesser extent in my legs went quite quickly.

    Tiredness

I agree with handr about the carbs you are eating. I find if I can get breakfast right I'm pretty much set up for the day. I have an egg most days either poached, boiled, fried, scrambled or my favourite - as an omelette with a sliver of ham, some chopped tomato and a sprinkling of cheese. I...

The soles of my feet hurt

Good, hope your feet get better. Mine have been fine ever since I stopped the statins. Cholesterol is OK but wouldn't want it any higher. Liver enzymes have remained back in normal range.I think it was about 2 years ago now that I stopped taking them. I think it's good if your doc is testing you...

The soles of my feet hurt

When I first mentioned my feet to my doc she said it was unlikely to be due to the statin. However I eventually had other problems with them and liver enzymes were elevated and it was that which after trying 2 statins caused her to decide to halt the use. The pains in my feet and also by that...
