    Green Tea

We love a nice mug of green tea, and usually go for Tetley's green tea with lemon. I must admit though, it is an acquired taste. Brian

    Forum ideas

Personally, under the food and nutrition forum, the titles just don't read well. What is "low-carb diabetes" & "non low-carb diabetes"? Surely "low carb diets" & "non low carb diets" would read much better. :? Brian

    dry eyes

That's a very useful link Catherine, thank you. I have had blepharitis for many years now, and have found very little relief for it. I have now ordered a couple of their products, and hope they will give me some relief. The product reviews certainly seem to be very positive. Brian

    DIABETES AND DRIVING LICENCE QUESTIONS

Re: DVLA revoked driving licence - any advice? That's right Sue. I've been having annual field tests since 1993, as I have Optical Hypertension, and have to use eye drops daily to prevent glaucoma. I was not diagnosed as T2 until June this year. Brian

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Re: Flu jab 2010. I think there is a subtle difference between "the flu jab made me ill", & " after I had the flu jab I felt ill". Can you specifically confirm candi-girl, that it was the jab that made you ill, or did you just jump to the conclusion? My advice would be to have the jab...

    Type 2 and motor insurance

I was surprised to read in this thread that it was mandatory to declare T2 to your motor insurance supplier. So in order to comply, I have just telephoned my broker (RIAS) in order to inform them. The response I got was that as long as the DVLA were happy for me to drive, so were they, and I...

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Re: Flu jab 2010. I had the pneumonia jab after a bout of pneumonia in 2008. I was told by the nurse that it was a one and only, and would last all my life. Brian

    Hello all

Sorry to sound thick, but what is cauli-rice? Also, my GP is not one of those who encourages self testing, and will not prescribe the necessaries. I have decided to wait, (maybe unwisely) until I get the result of my first HbA1c test, before self funding testing myself. If my test is OK, then...

    Hello all

Hi Burtielad & welcome. I am also a recently diagnosed T2, and I was also sent for the ultrasound scan on my liver, so maybe it is done as a matter of routine by some GP's. Must admit that I was quite worried about it, but the result was merely what is known as a "fatty liver", and is...

    Eating in the USA

I am a recently diagnosed T2 on diet only, and still trying to get my head round the diet. At home it's not too bad, as we can buy and cook the correct ingredients. In September, we are going on a 10 day coach tour of New England in the Fall, which we have been looking forward to for a long...

STATIN USERS - QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

Re: cholesterol lowering statins I am currently on statins (Simvastatin). Although only been taking them a couple of months, I have had no side effects whatsoever. I think I've read other posts on here saying the same thing. The fact is, that we are all different, and I think it is unwise to...

    Newly Diagnosed woman problems

It's strange , but I have a hearing problem, and wear an aid in each ear, and am prone to ear infections. Last year, long before I was diagnosed as a T2, I had an ear infection. The Nurse practitioner suggested taking a swab and having it tested. Yes, you guessed, I had Thrush in my ears...

    The Dr says "NO CAKES"

Thanks for the replies, they have been really helpful. I am now getting used to the idea of having the condition, and view it as a challenge, something to get my teeth into, so to speak. :D Following the research I've done, I'm beginning to see the direction I need to go. I'm finding that I...
