Type 1 Information on Low Carb for Type 1 and Exercise

Guys and Gals, I‘m 50yrs old and love to ride my bike, used to be anything from 20-70 miles, but now 20-40 miles. The past couple of years and after have Long Covid for 9 months I want to get back on it, but I’ve put weight on, all in the mid section. Feels like I’m bloated in the belly and...

    Exercise

I sometimes have the same problem, but for me I can be around 7/8 and go out for a 30/40 mile bike ride only to come home with levels of 16-20. I think this link will give you some understanding as to what’s going on, though it won’t help, as exercise is supposed to be good for the body, but we...

    Am I VAT Exempt?

Thank you for your replies, much appreciated. Ended up finding my way to Government Website on a VAT page, which confirmed I am exempt of any VAT. Then filled in the part on Dexcom Store which saved me £31+. It still hurts but better than nothing[emoji4][emoji106]

Hi People, First time poster, long time follower. I’m looking at purchasing some Sensors and wondering do I pay VAT? Seen a post from 2018 when searched, but might be a question already asked, so sorry if has been. Would appreciate any help, as Dexcom is already expensive without the...

    T1 and Golf

Hi Kate, I have the same issues with cycling, out on the bike for hours at a time and find when I get home after a leg smash my levels are in the teens and sometimes in the 20’s. I was advised the could be because you are dehydrated and this kicks the liver off producing glycogen which will in...

    Metformin in type 1?

I tried Metformin but had a horrible reaction to it. Knocked me out every day I took, couldn’t be bothered to anything, tired, stayed in bed till midday. I stopped it after 5 days for one day and I was back to normal within 24hrs. Pity as I’m over weight and this would have helped get my doses...

    Dexcom free trial

Thank you for the information. I had nothing but trouble with the sensors from Libra, so now I use an over expensive blood glucose test machine. So have signed up so hopefully will be better. [emoji106]

    The truth about sugar..

Problem with the Beeb is it try's to do real world issues, but also try's not to **** off big Corps, leaving us watching something of nothing! It was trying to get the point over that Sugar is bad and causes Obesity and Diabetes and obviously other illness. Costs the NHS a load of money also...

Need to lose 80kg, starting tomorrow!

Good luck with the weight loss, myself is in a pickle and its not easy going. Pub food is not good for you full stop, processed and the way it's cooked does not help, so go for something healthy looking, all breakfast is too fatty! Indian food is just as bad, the sauce is full of sugars, so...

    Cats

If they trained them with a litter tray outside it would save them doing it in our garden, taking responsibility for your pets is not much to ask, or is it. If selfish I can understand why. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Cats

We don't have cats but we have plenty of cat **** in the garden. Not sure why cat owners in our area do not take responsibility for them once they let them out the door. It's annoying and we have a young boy, so we have to make sure there is none in the garden when he goes out to play, as its...

This was 15 years ago, now it's all changed. My local surgery told me about DAFNE last year, finding a week...

Hi all, I have Type 1 Insulin dependent, inject 4 times daily and have had Diabeties for about 16 yrs. I am nearly at my heaviest in weight, 17st, only ever hitting this weight when I bust my ribs a few years back. I started new job a year ago and was away a lot, hotel food not the best, but...

    Help with Carb Counting

Hi Guys and Gals, Introductions done and I know this has been spoken about over the years, as of the search I did on it, but thought it would be quicker asking the question, rather than reading through hundreds of Threads :D I do not do this and only reason why asking is because my Doc...

Hi Guys and Gals :) Just wanted to say hi from me. Not new to Diabetes, 13 years, does not mean I am running like a well oiled machine  Type 1, 4 injections a day, due to my work. Levels running at about 9-9.5, not good as said, but am working with my in between meals habits :wink...
