    Victoza

It took me a few days to get used to it. And as I increased the dose from 0.6 to 1.2 to 1.8 I got bought of nausea. But it settled down quickly and now, ten years on, I get no issues at all using it. It does help to suppress appetite.

    Glucomen aero 2x - iPhone

I suspect the answer is "It's an Apple thing". But I can't get my Glucomen meter to connect via NFC to my iPhone X. It used to work with an iPhone SE. And it definitely works with a Samsung Galaxy (Android). But the iPhone refuses to connect. Has anyone had any luck/tips? Thank you.

Libre 2 - need a reader to activate??

This is about the Freestyle Libre 2. Does anyone know if you also have to buy the reader as well as the sensors or does the iphone app now activate the sensor? The instructions on the sensor suggest that the phone now activates it without needing the reader but I dont want to open the pack...

    Victoza. Feeling v v rough!

Started at 0.6 as usual. Had the sickness on day 3 at that dose. So had lots of concerns that I would be bad again when I went to the 1.2. But that wasn't the case. I inject at about 1000pm. I now know I get nauseous when my sugars are low. So coming from 18 and 19 down to 7 and 8 was really...

    Victoza. Feeling v v rough!

Started Victoza in early Jan. First two days I felt okay. But on the third day I was awful. Sick and nausea all day. It took a few days to get over it. And I still get a few moments when I just feel queasy. But a single biscuit eases that. Bottom line my sugars have halved and my numbers are...

hba1c - take tablets or not

I am having my hba1c in the morning. Am fasting as usual before it - grrrrr. I have never known however if I should take my metformin as normal when I get up. I usually don't because taking metformin without food aggravates the well-known side-effects but does anyone have any views whether I...

Hi everybody, In a bad way at minute...

Abcesses are so painful. I have had quite a few (is it common with diabetics?). I avoided warm drinks and sipped ice water to keep the swelling down. Oral aneasthetics worked well for me along with Ibuprofen to reduce swelling. The only proper answer is a dentist I am afraid. If you can convice...

    Morning BSLs

I wonder if someone could help with a bit of advice. I have been diagnosed T2 for about 6 yrs now and up until the last 18 mths, my BSLs have been quite reasonable and my HbA1C has been about 6.5. Twelve months ago that hit about 7.5 and my most recent was 9.8. My diabetic nurse (not the best...

    Travelling with insulin

I am type 2 controlled by tablets (Metformin 3 x 500mg per day) however over the past two years my bsl has climbed up and up and in my most recent discussion with my doctor the prospect of going onto Insulin has been raised. My problem is I am away from home two or three nights a week and I...

    Where to buy test strips?

I went through this with the PCT and got quite angry. Like most type 2s who are concerned about this matter, I test every morning and if outside my optimum range (most days at the moment) I test after meals during the day. I know I can "adjust" my BSL by simpling reducing my carb intake until I...

    nuts

I eat a handful of pistachios when I have the munchies either mid-morning or afternoon. Doesn't seem to cause my BS to do anything unusual and keeps off the hunger pangs.

    Whey protein based drinks

Has anyone got any experience with whey protein based drinks. I regularly see them in my local gym and wondered if anyone had tried them or had any info. The web has various testimonials etc and general info but I always prefer the advise of forum members on subjects like this. Many thanks.

    Sun-glare and sensitive eyes

For a number of years (similar to the time elapsed since diagnosis), I have noticed I am becoming more sensitive to sun-glare. Consequently I tend to wear good (dark) sunglasses. I have my regular retinopathy which is all-clear and I have discussed it with my optician who says that it could be...

    Flatulence !!

Cosy, I know it's a serious subjects but the posts above have caused me to giggle today, so thanks for that. As detailed above, Metformin and most other medication often causes "difficult" moments - my colleague who is actually a lot me sensitive to Metformin than I am, invented the phrase...

    Diabetes & alcohol

Re: Diabetes & alcohol I switched to Holsten Pils a while ago but still felt lousy after a few tins - suspect that was the alcohol content rather than the sugars though. I find Miller Lite ok but I must confess over the years I have actually pretty much given up on alcohol and now choose to...

    Food confusion

Hi, Sue is right. Everyone is different and you need to test before and after while you find out what is good and bad for you. Take bananas for instance, they don't cause me too much grief yet my friend goes off the scale when he eats them. Similarly chinese food sends my bsl bonkers but once a...

    Low Carb/High Protein diet

Christine, I forgot to say, for years before I was diagnosed I had dry skin on my knees and elbows. It wasnt enough for me to go to the doctors over - I just lived with it. Once I had been diagnosed and I got my bsl under better control, the dry skin went away and hasnt returned. I can only put...

Hi. Everyone will tell you that we all have a bad day with our medication and sometimes we all get angry over something. Dont worry, we all do it and it's what the forum is for; you can obtain some reassurance and sympathy and it makes the whole diabetes regime easier to deal with. I had awful...
