LCHF plus exercise has been incredible

just been trying the Int. Fast for the last week with only 6hr window to try and focus on reducing insulin levels as don't really want to lose anymore weight and found it quite manageable. Over Christmas Day and Boxing Day tried the 24hr fast as gym closed for two days, but eat too much in the...

Started IF and higher Fasting BG levels

Cheers @walnut_face , still taking Metformin just asking about timings with IF as new to this, as would normally take twice over food window or should I take one on waking up(without food) and the remaining one in food window?

Started IF and higher Fasting BG levels

Hi @catinahat , thanks for that the article very informative. Appears to say my liver still has too much sugar and need to keep at it with more LCHF + Fasting to both reduce sugar in and increase burning off. I assume I can then use my fasting reading at a good indicator that my liver is...

Started IF and higher Fasting BG levels

Should I still take my metformin in the morning without food? Or wait for the food window? I don't get any adverse effects with this drug, even without food. This may help keep my pre meal level lower from fasting if taken a few hours earlier.

Carb counting and lack of UK food label traffic light system for total carb's

Why doesn't the UK include total carbs on the current traffic light system on the front of most food labelling. This would make shopping a lot more informative and less time consuming to have to pick up every product and then spending time reading the rear label. I would think if sufficient...

Type2. How Agressively Do You Exercise? www.FixingDad.com

Think HIIT/weight lifting/lifestyle changes helped most with BG and the cardio for general health improvements to heart and blood pressure. I never tried diet in isolation, so can't say really which contributes the most to my progress and wouldn't want to stop the exercise to find out!

Type2. How Agressively Do You Exercise? www.FixingDad.com

I've been going to gym for 2hrs per day ( more towards weights than cardio) x 6 per week. I run 1x10km and 1x5km per week too and have been doing this since T2. I'm loving my new fitness levels and will continue with this level of exercise as can easily fit it in my life style, rather than sat...

Reducing MetFormin - any side effects?

Hi @pete254 and @Liam1955 just got my new prescription from doctors and I think I'm going to only take 1x500mg per day rather than the two as lost weight again this morning even though I'm trying to maintain weight. I've increased my calories, but started to only restrict my carbs to 100g per...

Is Metformin a slimming drug in disguise?

My doctor says this drug causes weight loss and I my case he doesn't want me to lose anymore weight so wants to reduce dose. Is he correct!!! Is this a slimming drug in disguise??

LCHF plus exercise has been incredible

The 161.25g was per day for carbs, but have been trying to reduce it down and today it was only 100g. My BG levels can tolerate moderate level of carbs and this is giving me the reluctance to go too low too quickly, but will sample lower values and see what happens with my weight as don't want...

    Low Carb v calories

People who believe that weight loss can only come about with a calorie deficit are making a number of incorrect assumptions about thermodynamics and the calorie theory. To go into just one of the errors here, by wrongly interpreting the first law of thermodynamics and therefore wrongly ignoring...

3 month results today and improved, but need help on explaining results

Just come back from the doctors this evening and I'm some what depressed. I thought the doctor would be happy with my results which he was in part, but in the same breath wants me to increase my weight as he says I've lost too much. He wanted to immediately stop the metformin as apparently he...

3 month results today and improved, but need help on explaining results

@walnut_face it's only my first result under 42, so will at least hold out for the next 3 months follow up as I'm wanting doctors approval/support to change diet from moderate carbs to the more typical LCHF diet as the BG meter is showing much better results with this approach. Shame I only got...

3 month results today and improved, but need help on explaining results

Great results today from the 05/12/16 and HbA1c 39mmol/L - Should I be asking to lower my medication to 1 x 500mg Metformin per day from existing 1 x 500mg x 2 per day. I originally pushed the doctor to prescribed the drug as he wanted to wait 12 months to see what any life style changes and...

    Diagnosed today 12th Dec 2016

Excellent video and more evidence to work towards LCHF lifestyle. Looks like the majority of the food industry is following the previous smoking agenda and pushing carb's and just ignores the facts to make vast amounts of money at our expense. Where's all the independent government advice to...

Newly diagnosed and worried about Christmas etc

Try not to panic I did when first T2D, but I would say the best think I would do different is spend your initial few weeks trying to careful log what you actually eat and level of physical activity. Get a food app and fitbit type device to make this process easier. You can then plan what life...

Low Carbs versus NHS recommended diet.

I don't have T1D so cant comment specifically. As a T2D I eat to my BG meter results every time, as its my health at the end of the day. Some people like me seem to be luckily at the moment and can tolerate a moderate amount of carbs which has made my life style changes a lot easier. Over time...
